We have really enjoyed sleeping on this futon so far! We purchased the 5 inch all organic cotton fill. The first night was not comfortable enough for my hip and shoulder joints because we did not have a tatami mat underneath. We got creative and used our REI Campwell mats underneath. It is so much more comfortable this way! We will be buying a tatami mat for a permanent solution, but for now, the camping mats and futon are so comfortable together. We flip and hang the futon each morning to keep it aired out/fluffed. We've been on it for a week and I feel that I sleep deeper, toss and turn less, and feel less sore and tired when I wake. My workouts have also become easier and I find my joints less inflamed feeling. I think it's from the all natural/organic futon and bedding. I also love the cushioned feedback from the ground vs the softer mattress we were on before. I also love the look and feel of the material and filling, and I find it's cotton smell pleasant. If we could purchase this again, we would get the same futon but get the tatami mat with it and we would also add handles because we like to air out our futon every day and picking up a queen is tricky without handles.

Deepest sleep I’ve had since anesthesia but without the weird loopy stage. We love our mattress, our sleep quality has greatly improved, & we plan to get each of our kids one in the near future.

I bought the five-inch version, and I liked that there was a lot of stuffing. It's cool that the futon shop sells an all-natural futon with a lot of stuffing. however, it was softer than I thought it would be. It very quickly formed a body imprint, sort of like a hollow in the middle where I tended to sleep. The stuffing in mine also did not seem to be evenly distributed throughout the entire futon. The five-inch futon is also not very easy to fold up in the mornings. It has a faint barnyard smell, which i find to be ok. It does not seem to be truly 100% natural, since the tufting seems to be done with some sort of synthetic fiber. But all in all, still a high-quality futon.

Some glitches with delivery, it went back, but resending worked and customer service was great. Very happy with the product

We are happy with our purchase of the organic futon mattress. However, a week after we received it, the mattress went on sale for 45% less than the price we had just paid, which means that the markup on this item was really high. Too expensive.

It's really, really solid. Japanese joinery is amazing. No bolts and yet once the pieces are put together, they don't wiggle at all. I live in Hawaii, and shipping costs and time to delivery are often issues, but shipping was relatively inexpensive and fairly fast. Like the color. I was impressed that there's a center bar even for the twin size. I did make my own slats, and with them there's no squeaking at all (can't comment on how well the slats provided would have worked. The ones provided were too widely spaced (5") for my needs. They are hardwood. Not sure what species, but definitely hardwood. 2 1/2" in width and span from the side rail to the center board (so two sets provided). They're held together with nylon webbing that is stapled to the slats. The dowel pins on the rails help keep them in place. ) Assembly is fairly easy with a couple of caveats. The assembly instructions were not as easy to follow as I would have liked (maybe make a short video). I had to move the leg/rail combination around a coupe times to get the pieces to fit together. I know the instructions said to use a rubber mallet, but it seemed extra tight until I switched the pieces around the fit was less tight. I still needed to tap with the rubber mallet a little. Once I did that everything was fine. I've enjoyed several great nights of sleep on the bed so far.
