Love my Shun knives! The Nakiri knife is my most used. I love to chop salad greens with it, but much, much more. I even use the knobs at the end of the scissors to "punch" at the tape on box packages I receive. Saves scissors from getting sticky and having to wash scissor blades all the time.

Love the size and feel of this knife as a beginner. Everyday use, fruits, bagels and cream cheese, all with one knife. Same with making a sandwich and slicing veggies.

I have been a Shun customer because I believed I was buying a premium product backed by premium customer service. Unfortunately, my recent experience has been the exact opposite. In February, I sent two of my Shun knives to the factory for sharpening. When they were returned, they were not the same knives I had sent in, and both had obvious alignment issues that were not present before. The handles and blade components no longer lined up correctly, leaving the knives looking poorly assembled. When I contacted customer service, I expected them to investigate and make things right. Instead, I was told that I had somehow caused the misalignment myself—even though I had not disassembled or modified the knives in any way. I was also told that because the knives were not documented as damaged during intake back in February, the issue was effectively my responsibility. The representative I spoke with was dismissive, argumentative, and unwilling to acknowledge that the problem could have occurred during manufacturing, reassembly, or servicing. To make matters worse, I was told I would have to pay to ship the knives back again just to have them evaluated. For a company that markets itself as a premium knife manufacturer, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. Premium products deserve premium customer service, accountability, and respect for loyal customers. I can’t recommend Shun based on my experience. I hope they eventually choose to stand behind their products and treat customers better than they treated me.

I mailed my complete knife set in for a warranty claim: five knives, the sharpening steel, and the knife block. When my package was returned, I received only ONE knife, the block, and a voucher for the sharpener. Four knives were missing. When I contacted customer service, Dan Cohen told me that only one knife was returned because they allegedly received only one knife. I asked them to review their security footage. Dan specifically stated that there was no way to determine whose package was whose based on the camera footage. After multiple emails and phone calls, they finally sent me photos claiming they showed my package being opened. The problem? It is NOT my package. The box I used had pictures printed on the outside, and the box shown in their photos is completely different. If they cannot identify packages from their camera footage, how can they claim with certainty that they only received one knife from me? Their own statements directly contradict their conclusion. I know exactly what I sent. I returned the entire set as instructed for warranty service. I am simply asking for my original knives to be returned to me. SEND MY KNIVES BACK. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others before doing business with this company.
