I cherish my Shun knives and to date have over 12. When I travel within the US to one place for a month or more I always take a few knives with me. I’m not a profession chef, just a regular person who appreciates quality and want sharp functional knives and Shun always delivers.

I have used this board for slicing up chicken and beef so far. this will be my go to board for smaller cuts of meat. I wouldn't carve a large turkey or salmon on it, but any other smaller cut of meat will work fine.

Wait for the sale, get a deal on a quality knife, not all of them are crafted in Japan, so if you see an approachable price you'll probably get one made in China, however the quality is just fine.
