We had a very disappointing experience with NZ Bed, Moorhouse branch. On 12th October, we ordered a stocked bed set and made a partial payment of around $2,300. Due to an unexpected financial issue, we returned to the store on 14th October (just two days later) to cancel the order. Shivanthi, a store staff member on duty at that time, kindly agreed to the cancellation, confirmed that no shipping or special arrangements had been made, and said the refund would be processed within 5 working days. She also took our account details for the refund. However, the following day, we received an email from Jimmy (the salesperson) repeatedly asking for the reason for cancellation, even though we had already explained it clearly to Shivanthi — it was due to a financial issue. Later, Ruhi, another store representative, emailed to say we would need to pay 20% of the cost, claiming it was a “change of mind. ”This was both unfair and unreasonable, as the product was in stock, and no delivery, freight, or custom order was involved. Even if it were considered a change of mind, charging 20% without any actual costs being incurred does not seem justified — especially since the cancellation was clearly due to financial reasons. It’s confusing and disappointing that one staff member confirmed the cancellation and refund without issue, while another later reversed that decision and demanded a 20% deduction. Such inconsistency within the same store shows a clear lack of communication and professionalism. Throughout this process, the staff requested that all communication be done by email, which made the process slower and more frustrating. The entire refund process took around a month, and we only received confirmation of the refund after mentioning that we would contact NZ Consumer Affairs. GREAT SERVICE, VERY GOOD PRICE
I purchased a bed from the Moorehouse Store and received friendly and excellent service and a great price. The bed will be perfect for my parent's bach. The only issue is that I have been trying to ring to change my delivery time and it is impossible to get through - very frustrating!

Buying a bed is never easy — especially for seniors like myself who live with ongoing back pain. It’s not just about comfort, but health and daily wellbeing. Ruhi, in particular, has been nothing short of exceptional. Ruhi's kindness, patience, and genuine concern made all the difference. She worked with me through the exchanges until we found the right solution — always calm, respectful, and accommodating. She never made me feel like a bother, even though this process must have tested her patience. It was clear to me that she cared not just about making a sale, but about ensuring that I was genuinely comfortable and satisfied. I come from an “old school” perspective — I believe in sorting things out directly, with mutual respect and integrity. That’s exactly what I found here. Despite the bumps along the way, we arrived at a fair and respectful resolution, and I hold nothing but gratitude for how things were handled. I am deeply sorry for any undue stress caused earlier, and I truly admire the grace and professionalism with which Ruhi managed it all. It’s rare these days to encounter a business that still values honesty, customer care, and doing right by people — especially when the customer is vulnerable. I am of senior age, and the physical and emotional toll of this situation was not insignificant. Yet Ruhi and her team stood by me until we got it right. I want nothing more than to see this business succeed and prosper. They deserve it — and more. I will be keeping them in my prayers moving forward. A special mention must go to Gagan and Jeet, who collected the bed base, Therapedic mattress, and headboard. They were courteous, careful, and efficient — a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Gagan, who has been to my home before, is consistently professional and reliable, and Jeet was equally polite and helpful.
