Unprofessional Delivery Experience
I recently had furniture delivered from Bob's Discount Furniture, and while I am very happy with the quality of the furniture itself, the delivery experience left a lot to be desired. The delivery crew was generally friendly, and they did a good job assembling and setting up the furniture. However, one of the delivery workers became visibly annoyed when my side door did not open fully and they had to use the front door instead. He rudely asked me, "What do you do in a fire?" I found that comment unnecessary and unprofessional. The crew assembled much of the furniture outside before bringing it into the house. During the setup, I witnessed one of the workers nick my freshly painted bedroom wall. Accidents happen, but what bothered me was that nobody mentioned it or apologized. Fortunately, I have leftover paint and can repair it myself. After the delivery was completed, I signed the paperwork and tipped the crew $40 because I assumed everything had been properly cleaned up. Unfortunately, after they left, I discovered a large amount of Styrofoam and plastic packaging scattered around my property and even onto my neighbor's property. While they removed the larger debris, they left behind a significant mess that I had to sweep up and clean myself. My neighbor saw the Bob's Discount Furniture packaging and jokingly commented that I should order from Raymour & Flanigan next time. While we laughed about it, it reflected the impression left by the cleanup. Overall, I am pleased with the furniture and the assembly work, but the rude comment, damage to my wall, and failure to properly clean up after the delivery prevented this from being a positive customer experience. My advice to future customers would be to thoroughly inspect the work area before tipping the delivery crew.
