I've been pulling shots at home for twenty years. I have a reliable double boiler that has been my workhorse for well over a decade. I recently bought a Flair Pro3 for portable camping use. I was immediately hooked and bought the Flair58 base for home use. I feel like I'm going backwards in the espresso world, and I love it! I went from a pretty automated morning routine to now getting more hands on again. I'm getting much better shots now using the Flair. Having the ability to more precisely control the water temp, flow, and pressure has made for a whole new level of flavor from the beans. Every shot I pull is good these days, instead of the hit and miss I would get on my e61 machine. I'm truly impressed. I'm excited to see what Flair has next. Now I have to get my hands on the Flair Wizard, and I will have completed my journey backwards in the espresso scene.

TLDR: The Flair 58 Hard Travel Case is functional but has significant room for improvement. While it is a joy to have your Flair 58 on vacation, it will displace a carry-on bag, forcing most air travelers to check at least one bag. For this reason, it is not well suited for business travel. I have used my Flair 58+ for 18 months and purchased "The Case" for a recent 10-day trip. The interior uses the same foam inserts as the original shipping box, housed in a rugged plastic shell. While this design likely reduced manufacturing costs, it only partially meets the needs of a mobile barista. For a complete travel espresso setup, I recommend the following: - Flair 58 - Hand grinder - Portable collapsible kettle - Scale (with auto-tare for output) - Espresso beans - Optional: A separate scale or Flair weigh cup for dosing It is disappointing that The Case lacks dedicated cut-outs for a grinder, kettle, or scale (such as an Acaia Lunar). These essential items must be packed separately in other luggage. Additionally, The Case is somewhat cumbersome; it lacks a luggage strap for attachment to carry-on handles and technically exceeds carry-on dimensions in one direction. For a future redesign, I suggest Flair ensure the case is fully carry-on compliant, add wheels, and provide space for a hand grinder, travel kettle, and scale. While this would increase the price, it would make the product truly "travel-friendly. " Due to these limitations, I am giving the current product a 3-star rating.
