I’m no longer shopping with US because of a response I received regarding purchasing a top and before the package even shipped, the price on said top was reduced further. I reached out for a price adjustment and was told (possibly by an AI bot) that this wasn’t possible. I couldn’t cancel the order as it was on final sale. A day later, I believe I got an answer from a human and the price adjustment was made. I’ve been a very loyal US customer and when there’s a price change like this (sudden and before an item has shipped) perhaps the adjustment in favor of the customer should be automatic. It’s sad I had to fight for it and you lost a customer over it.

Photos to see products are sometimes in low light or the model is posed not standing, so I can't see how long a top's torso is in the front, sleeves rolled or pulled up, top tucked in, and when not tucked in, the photo is from the back, so I still can't see how long the top is. Dark backgrounds make seeing product's colors more difficult. I do like that different-sized models are available for all the same products, it is very helpful.

The website is mostly fine. It’s hard to think of positive things to say. It loads pretty fast. It almost always does what you want. It’s easy ro find shipping information for past orders. The bad: However, the way clothing is classified can be difficult to figure out. Why are some trousers that have variations that are objectively not ponte listed in ponte pants? Why are some flannel shirts listed in outerwear when the dress version is still a dress? More annoyingly, a clothing item will often radically change the fabric content and fit and still be called the same thing. Sweaters that once were mostly wool are now mostly synthetic and feel completely different are called the same name. Lengths of tops change without any obvious sign on the website. Jeans that were once fitted through the hips are now baggy and diaper-like around the hips, but the name hasn’t changed. I suspect it’s to keep the positive reviews from the older and better quality products since US has had a sharp decline in style (there were so many interesting items long ago, now half the items are kinda the same in different lengths and fabrics) and cut of items (very few items are flattering: just shapeless things that make everyone look like potatoes) and an enormous decline in item quality. It’s completely misleading. They claim some of it is more environmentally friendly, but if I have to throw out an item after 6 months while a previous version is still in great shape after 6 years, is that really better for the environment? It’s loads more waste. So not making a new item listing with “revised” or something in the title and new reviews is incredibly misleading. I find the charts to figure out your US size from your measurements to be absolutely maddening. Since the print is tiny and not enlargeable through user font size preferences and the information is not the usual bust/waist/hips order, it’s an accessibility nightmare. Obviously they didn’t consider neurodivergent people or people ...

i’ve always had good experiences with Universal Standard customer service. It’s very clear that there are people behind the answers (once you get past the AI, which answers easy questions) and that they take the time to give a thoughtful and individual response.
