Spent all day trying to get Data to work without success. The trouble is I need to be in a location with free wifi to access emails from Sakura mobile. I've followed their instruction but still not working. Now it's Friday after 5pm so they are not contactable on telephone. Very disappointed, never had this issue with another provider.

Found that turning off the pocket wifi overnight when charging helped reset usage to 0 everyday ensuring you had at least 3GB high speed data. Found the pocket wifi essential for my trip to Japan with 3 travelers. Not for streamers, influencers or heavy data hitters

BE SURE YOU READ ALL THE DETAILS BEFORE YOU INSTALL IT! Sakura mobile offers another tourist scam program of “unlimited” data putting in the small letters the detail that after 3 giga byte consume , they would lower your speed to 450 kb! Yes you heard well, kilobytes ! In Tokyo it’s very easy to spend three giga bytes in half a day since you will be using google maps all day and Google translate as well as you will want to scroll maybe on social media while commuting all day in between metros and trains to explore the city. I didn’t read the small letters and unfortunately I fell victim to the situation and had to buy another eSIM to accommodate my daily needs. Be really careful before you buy Sakura Mobile as this is a 3 giga byte per day program AND NOT unlimited as they claim. I hope no one else falls victim to this. Bear in mind that this is also a non refundable program which means even if you cancel you get nothing back . I owe it to the rest of the people that will travel to Japan to let them know of the situation.

Sakura Mobile is an excellent service. Our device was delivered on time and worked well. This is the best way to use your cell phone in Japan.

We travelled Japan for almost 2 weeks. The Sakura pocket WiFi device (unlimited data) performed flawlessly for us. We kept it charged via our own power bank while we were exploring Japan. It only died one time after I unplugged it to charge another device and forgot to plug it in again. The connection was stable, and speeds were fast enough for our son to watch videos on his iPad during downtime, while my wife and I also browsed the internet and watched our own videos. I cannot fault the device and the service. *Important: Please make sure you confirm your departing airport when collecting the unit, as they may need to provide you with a return envelope so you can return it via post box at your departing airport if they do not have a service desk there. This was our only issue, and to be clear it was not Sakura Mobile at fault here. Language barrier played a part, but I got this wrong when collecting the device and that's on me. Sakura mobile were very helpful and fast to respond when I contacted them from our departing airport, and refunded me the cost of the envelope I had to purchase from the airport to post it back to them.

I opted for the pocket Wi-Fi because I read that people were having issues with eSIMs. Everything was organized perfectly and explained clearly from the pick up to drop off. I picked up from Haneeda, Tokyo and returned th device using the provided return envelope. Just popped it in the post box at Kansai, level 4F. We had no major issues with the internet. I just collected the package and turned on the device and it works immediately. I also contacted the company via email and they responded within a day to address my concerns. Make sure to carry your own power bank or rent it from the company because its doesn’t last all day.

I took Sakura SIM at XIX airport when I arrived in Japan in February and I had a big problem when I came back in France because Sakura SIM was kept in my iPhone. I asked the lady at the counter to help me before leaving XIX because it was my first time using SIM and they have promised to help me to recover my French SIM. I couldn’t use any internet in France until Apple service helped me totally to erase Sakura SIM from my iPhone. I’m sure she did the same thing to other customers at XIX. I’m not the only one beginner. She really should be careful with the customers who need a help like me. For sure I’m not coming back to Sakura SIM anymore even I come back to Japan several times a year. I go to others because there’re so many other SIM companies in XIX!!! Be careful who you’re hiring!!!! I put 1star because it was necessary to put this review but honestly NO Star for Sakura SIM 👎👎👎👎👎

This is the second time that we as a family have each used a Sakura pocket wifi system during our travels around Japan. Delievred to our hotel on arrival, easy to set up and connect with excellent internet connection in big cities but also in the countryside (Izu Shizuoka region, Ise-Shima national park. I purchased an ‘unlimited data’ sim for 15 days. By Day 12, the network completely slowed and I was unable to use my data/network. This is because there was apparently a policy that monitored usage & if you reached high amount of usage, the network changed for your use. Read the policy as ‘unlimited data’ is false advertising. Very disappointed as it left me in a difficult position whilst travelling. I raised this with Sakura at the time, all they did was refer me to their policy. Despite the unlimited data advertisement!

It’s impossible to cancel the service wouldn’t buy under any circumstance bad horrible company:((

I acquired the Travel SIM for my 45-day trip to Japan. First and foremost, the SIM card had compatibility issues with my phone, so I had to switch to pocket Wi-Fi instead. Initially, everything was fine because it was my fault for not properly checking the compatibility information for my phone model. From that point on, I used pocket Wi-Fi, which worked just fine for me. However, as the days passed, I noticed how slow the internet connection was. Even though I was using an average of 2GB of internet per day at most, the internet speed was not what I expected from this service. I mainly used Google Maps and social media, nothing too data-consuming, yet I still experienced slow internet speeds and occasional connection problems, especially when I needed it the most. Overall, I would definitely not recommend this service, especially if your phone model has compatibility issues. I have used pocket Wi-Fi before, and I can say for sure that Sakura Mobile isn't the best choice if you want consistently fast internet with a stable connection.

I'm not very tech savvy so had an email exchange with Sakura staff who advised that as my phone wouldn't support both band 1 and 13 in order to use an e-Sim in Japan a pocket wifi was the way to go. The online ordering process was very straightforward and was sent to my hotel without extra charge (with 3 days notice). As other reviewers have said it was provided in a zipped wallet with a charger and a prepaid envelope to pop it in a post box at the end of the rental period. The device was about 6 cms square and very light so easy to take around. Both our mobile phones were linked to it all day then it was charged up overnight. It enabled us to use Google Maps, look up information and use Google Translate. A brilliant device which never let us down. 100% recommended
