There is the Monthly Game Callander, the Monthly PBB Callander, free classes on various subjects, monthly sales of classes, weekly tournaments where Donna will be traveling, our monthly Live class, and best of all free Coffee Club 15-20 minutes M-F, hands with all the tools and whistles of bridge conventions, defense etc. Donna is always a very uplifting and kind Bridge teacher, very spontaneous and full of life. PBB and Donna Compton have a vast amount of knowledge and information to share. I took the beginner bridge class several years ago which set my foundation for the amazing game of Bridge. I recently purchased a bundle an plan to purchase more!

Lessons are not taught in a classroom environment using only a physical whiteboard, which is the only proven way to teach concepts. Donna refuses to acknowledge that not everyone learns the same way, so if you aren't neurotypical you will be overwhelmed in no time. Doesn't help that Donna looks like she is reading a prepared script from a teleprompter all the time, even though she claims she doesn't. She might be a world champion, but she needs to take a remedial course in teaching.

Dear players and continuing learners, Our game is unique. No matter how much you think you know. There's always someone who knows A LOT MORE. Donna is one of these people. I'm a certified ACBL instructor, silver life master and have been teaching for a decade. Donna has shown me how much more there is to learn. I've had MANY lessons from outstanding players and teachers. You know some of their names. What I've observed is not all great players are great teachers. Donna is the very best. Why do you ask? 1. She can "walk it back" to your level without talking down to you. MOST can't do this. 2. She explains things in a simple and easy to grasp manner with lots of examples to help you "SEE the correct approach. " I'm a visual learner. SHOW me what you want me to understand. Talking at me doesn't get the job done. I must SEE it. 3. She illustrates concepts by tearing a single hand apart from all aspects: Bidding, playing, leading and most importantly defending. This technique helps you learn at "multiple levels" at the same time. 4. She presents things in an upbeat, passionate and humorous manner that sometimes pokes fun at herself. Some instructors never come down from the "Mountaintop. " They want you to be in awe of them instead of relating to them. 5. In person, she’s no different. What you see is what you get. I recently spoke with her at a regional event. She remembered my wife and I were playing in the NAP competition. I was shocked that she remembered this. I asked her about the top thing we could do to prepare. “Work on being the best defender you can be. ” We took this to heart and purchased her online “Becoming a Better Defender” series. We haven’t been disappointed. Now if I could just coax her and Chris into playing for us! In short, if you are reading this, you’ve found the best place to learn. Donna's videos offer a great opportunity to increase your bridge skills providing audio learning and hands to play to review the specific concepts. My game has improved thanks to her lessons on hand evaluation and putting a PIN to each hand!

I am about halfway through this course, It has some wonderful information about leading against no trump and suits in addition to signaling partner. I am looking forward to finishing the course and then perhaps going through it again.

Since 2020, I have continued to utilize the lessons from Play Better Bridge - the live lessons, video lessons and weekday free mini-lessons. I've found them to be constructed in a way making comprehending the topics excellent! Donna gives explicit information, examples, the reasons behind the techniques, whether in bidding or defense. She also has constructed the curriculum in a logical building step pattern, lesson information builds on each other until you reach a level (intermediate) where you can explore topics that further fit your needs. Donna's attention to how the human brain works in learning new materials impresses me - she knows you don't automatically absorb all the nuances of a new convention or play and makes you feel comfortable as you stumble but then gain success in mastering the concepts given. I have taken several lessons from Donna and every one has been amazing. You get a handout, games to play on Sharkbridge, and notes to download with at least 4-5 very well explained hands representing the topic. There is a lesson for almost every topic you can think of and all excellent. I especially love Bridge for your Brain which is free daily Mon-Fri at 1045 Central where Donna does a mini lesson and explains bidding defence and play of the hand for one specific topic all in about 30 min.
