Easy fix. Appears to have cured the phantom check engine light. Little did I know a 24yr old gas cap can cause a check engine light but not throw a code. Truck is 24yrs old so they probably didn’t have a code for an old gas cap/vacuum issue back then. Funny thing is I didn’t even think of replacing the gas cap and never has it been recommended to replace it upon a check up when in for service. Could it be this is a well kept secret amongst the service industry for a money grab in diagnosing those pesky check engine lights? I dunno.
