Never again!
I am not sure who is running ModCloth these days but I just can’t recommend them to anyone! I recently made a purchase of four items, opting to pay an extra $4 fee to “unlock free returns!” I’m not sure how $4 is free, but since they no longer have many reviews on items or show their products on a variety of body shapes and sizes like they used to, I figured return insurance was a good idea.
When my items arrived, I wanted to return two of them. They didn’t fit well and weren’t made of nice comfortable material - they were scratchy and stiff cotton so didn’t seem worth tailoring. They felt very cheap! When I attempted to make a return, I was told one dress was final sale - even though it had not been listed as such when I purchased it. They agreed to let me return it - then tried to charge a $12 restocking fee. When I pointed out the $4 “free returns” charge I had paid, they said that only applied to a single item. They ended up waiving the $12 fee as a “one time convenience” - but nothing about this experience has been convenient.
I used to be a big fan, but I’m done ModCloth. This is their policy as written on the website - in no way does this indicate you can return only a single item!
“If Checkout+ was purchased at checkout, at the time the order was placed, no additional fees will be charged for your return or exchange of any item within the same order.
If Checkout+ was not purchased at checkout, at the time the order was placed, a $12. 00 (per order) processing fee will be deducted from the total refund or credit. ”
