In order to eliminate high level of sodium in house water used for drinking/cooking/ice-making, we have opted to utilize Potassium chloride in the brine tank rather than Sodium chloride. Works just fine. I am hoping, however, that the cost of a 40 lb. bag of Potassium chloride will decrease as popularity and/or supply of this product increases -- in our area (Central Texas), it is currently 5x the cost of a 40 lb. bag of Sodium chloride.

Install was easy and straightforward. My genesis 2 came with 1” and 3/4” inlet and outlet connectors. This machine is mulch more efficient than my previous and does a good job monitoring current water usage and only regenerates when necessary. Set the controls to my local cities water hardness and works well. Water is treated but not too soft and slimy feeling. Only had it for a month or so. Hope it lasts a long time. Would use discount water softeners again. Order and shipment was quick and easy.

I installed my new water softener myself on 10/01/2021, and it was very easy to install. It has been working flawlessly until last month (Feb 2025). My gallons used flow meter stopped showing usage after regenerating. I contacted DWS and was sent a new meter cable that connects between the turbine and the system control. However the cable pictured above was not the problem. I contacted DWS again and they determined that the turbine was not working. DWS quickly shipped me a new turbine that did in fact correct the problem. Also it was very easy to replace the new parts as well. Thanks DWS for your excellent help and service. Gary B
