Another slice of Custard Pie Please!!!
I just installed the Custard Pie Humbucking set into my strat and it's even better than I would have imagined. I have the Custard pie (Bridge) already in another guitar so I knew what I was getting there, but the Neck humbucker pickup is new. I did a demo of the bridge pickup with Sheptone single coils and the bridge pickup is a beautiful blend for a H/S/S setup. For this guitar I went with dual humbucker, but I wanted the option to coil split the neck. I had this exact setup already in this guitar and I quickly realized that I needed the Custard pie in the bridge (Given) but I hated the way most humbuckers sound split. They always seem to sound good, when you don't have a single coil guitar around to A-B with, but as soon as you do? Yuck!!! It's exactly what it is a half a humbucker, thin and quaky. The custard pie humbucker on it's own matched to the bridge pick is AMAZING!!! It's warm with a little bite and it carries the same characteristics of the bridge, which makes the middle position truly magical. I would have been happy with that, but then engage the coil tap and that's where my mind melted!!! It was every bit as good of a single coil tone than I have ever heard. I A-B it to my other Sheptone single coils and it was very impressive, the closest I have ever heard a split humbucker sound to a true single-coil. Not exact, but closer than I've ever heard, and the differences in the tones would be suggestive to most guitarists. I think many guitar players would prefer the single coil tone of the Custard Pie split than an actual single coil. It's very tele neck pickup-ish, and in the middle position split is very Gretsch-ish. Not at all what I thought I'd get but so happy with the results. Thank you Sheptone for giving me more than I thought I could get.

Sheptone Tributes-Monthly Winner!
I was the lucky winner of a new set of Sheptone pickups. Thank you Sheptone! Having purchased a set of Tributes a few years back for my PRS Custom 24, I was excited to install a set into a Les Paul Standard. For me, the Sheptone Tribute set sounds exactly like the vintage PAF tone in my head. Articulate, clear, gritty, and soulful with a little gain added. Nothing against PRS or Gibson, they make fine pickups. But the Tribute set made both of my guitars come alive. While I have used dozens of other aftermarket products for over 40 years, these pickups are truly something special. I am constantly asked about my tone and proud to tell people that the build design, quality, and tone of these pickups are second to none! Do yourself a favor and get a set!

Great Strings - Maintain that New Feel for a Long Time!
Very satisfied with the Sheptone Strings! They sound bright, are well packaged, and shippping was fast. But, the thing I really enjoy is how these strings feel under the fingers. I've had a set on for 6 weeks, and they still have that new string smoothness. I have since purchased more sets to try with other guitars.

Why I love it so much
You can feel the hand of precision that had wounded and cut Sheptone strings to brilliance with every pluck, pick n ‘ bend-tap-touch. The sleek and shine with that fresh feeling on the fingers is shockingly long lasting. I don’t go into the studio without Sheptone strings for they emit the silky-yet - cutting edge sound i’ve been looking for to complement my current style as well as future endeavors to become bolder. The hammer(s) of the gods
These bad boys went into my ‘82 Tokai Goldtop Loverock, a hand made 59 Les Paul clone. This guitar is very special. It’s uniquely alive and toneful. It vibrates and resonates in a way I’ve never felt before. I wanted to give it an upgrade for its 40th birthday (early). Bought a set of heartbreakers as I was looking for less gain and a more authentic burst tone. These babies did not disappoint. They are incredibly versatile and present a fantastic array of tones across all 3 switch positions, volume and tone settings. For the first time, I feel like I’m harnessing the true full tone of this amazing guitar, really bringing out the best. The bridge position can be a tad bright on high notes, but it forces me to expand my usage of tone and middle position tones. Chords seem huge, balanced, and literally bring a smile to my face. Single notes have a 3D quality and that magical quality you hear in recordings by the masters of this type of guitar (Page, Gibbons, Kossoff, etc). In short, I couldn’t be happier. These pickups absolutely nail that tone.

Great authentic PAF tone
I have bought Sheptone Tributes for all my Humbucker guitars for over ten years. Nothing else comes close. Bought this Tribute 4 for a guitar that is very bright and needed to be smoothed out some. Alnico 4 is the solution.

Heartbreakers in a Gibson LP R0
I dont write honeymoon reviews. In fact, I put these in my Les Paul about 3 years ago or so. These pickups are in a class all their own. The tone of the guitar to me sounds and feels woody on the neck and just the right output and bite on the bridge. Middle position does as advertised, but I like it wide open and use it for funkier grooves with that middle position quack. Dialing down to around 8 brings out some superior clean tones. Amps used are Marshall Studio Vintage 20, Blankenship Leeds (Carry On), and Fender Bassman. Three different tube types that all sound superb with these pickups. Bridge pickup driven with an overdrive pedal on the front end doesnt get out of control, but gives you that sweet harmonic sustaining feedback that is musical and missing from todays genre. I have a set of Blue Sky's in another Les Paul to differentiate the tone for versitality sake. Im on the fence about putting Red Headed Step Child model in a PRS KL-33 Korina guitar, which I am confident will be superior to the PRS Mira's that came in it. I'll make that choice soon. Great pickups overall and purchased for the tone. I found Sheptone via a friend and not the hype on the net or magazines that many boutique sellers sell.

Great pickup, but arrived looking worn
The pickup sounds great, no issues there. Mine arrived with one of the bobbins scratched up, and it has a mark that looks like a fingerprint smudge. I ignored it at first because I assumed it was just wax residue, but it won't come off. I decided it wasn't bad enough to bother with a return, I'm sure it'll end up with pick marks and normal play wear anyway. I just wouldn't have expected a new pickup at this price point to arrive looking like it was used.
