I was relying on Strings By Mail to have gear that works well, and was not disappointed!

I initially bought the 4 string set for my 32" scale acoustic bass guitar, and they are the best bass strings I've ever played. They keep enough brightness (really needed on an ABG) without being harsh and adding back in a lot of the low end the phosphor bronze strings were missing. Outside of tone, they feel absolutely incredible. They are incredibly smooth, making slides super easy, and I find they are much slipperier than flatwounds and don't stick if your finger is too dry or too wet. They are the most comfortable strings I have ever played. The softness to the touch means I can play for hours without my fingers hurting. I loved them so much I had to get a set for my 35" scale 5-string bass. Unfortunately, while the top 4 strings are just as perfect on electric bass as they are on my acoustic, the B string sounds very rubbery and dead. It appears the B string is just the E string with an extra winding of tape over the top of the brass core, which is likely why it sounds so muffled. What I have done is just substituted a roundwound B string - tonally it fits very well because it has similar brightness to the rest of the strings. My suggestion would be to just buy the 4 string set and a round or half round wound B string. Lastly, check if the strings will be long enough - on the B and E strings, they are only 37 inches from the start of the ball to the end of the silk, which on my bass means there is only about 1/4 inch of string past the nut so they just barely fit. The silks were plenty long enough at least.
