I live this paddle. After trying the owl founder’s edition. I loved the quiet. But needed more pop in my game play and a heavier paddle. The Talon has it all. It plays as well or better than my other high end paddles and is now the only paddle I play with. It took me a week to adjust but I don’t think I will ever go back.

I’m a 4. 5-level pickleball player with a tennis background. As I got older, I needed a sport that involved less running, and about two years ago I made the transition to pickleball. The adjustment was fairly smooth because many of the fundamentals carry over from tennis, although learning the soft game and drop shots took some time. I recently decided to experiment with different paddles and gave this one a try. While it definitely has a lot of pop and power, I found that it lacks the control I’m looking for. The biggest issue, however, is comfort. Despite the carbon-fiber surface, I could still feel the impact in my tennis elbow. I expected the paddle to absorb more vibration, but that wasn’t my experience. Another drawback is the balance. The paddle feels noticeably head-heavy, and you can feel the extra weight concentrated toward the top of the paddle during play. As for spin, I disagree with the 9/10 rating. In my opinion, it’s closer to a 5 or 6. Other paddles, such as the Hurricane and several competing models, generate significantly more spin and make it easier to shape shots and create movement on the ball. Overall, I think this paddle could benefit from some redesign. That said, paddle preferences are highly personal, and other players may have a different experience. One positive feature is that it’s relatively quiet, which could make it a good option for players in neighborhoods or communities where noise is a concern.

I did have a problem. I ordered 2 paddles, but I only received one initially. I tried multiple avenues to reach customer support, and none of them succeeded until I think an AI told me to contact Owl via facebook. This was the right move, and then I was given the correct email address to contact support. So then I did get attention, however it was a little disconcerting because the staff somewhat implied that I could be lying about the single paddle, stating that their pickers are generally super accurate. This is not the right play - and also, it sounds like Owl doesn't have a great system for being certain that an order was fulfilled correctly. If they aren't sure what the picker put in the package, that's a problem, and then to imply that maybe I'm lying about only getting 1 paddle - just not a good strategy.

They are great pickleball paddlers!

I won gold in singles 4. 0 using the Owl paddle playing outdoor. My problem with it is when it’s windy, sometimes it sways the paddle aside. I find it too light so I added lead weight on top.

I was a badminton player first before pickleball . And part of the hesitation why I didn’t switch earlier was because of the annoying loud sound when hitting the ball that’s why when I learned about owl paddle, I was really curious and gladly, this is perfect for me. Not only it silenced the impact sound of the ball but it taught me control is sometimes better than power . Happy with my new owl , playing more focus and smart .
