This is a dream blender. I can turn the dial for soups, ice cream, smoothies and cleaning and it will run the precise amount of time I need. It even starts slowly and builds up speed as it goes on. There's no guesswork. I like the fact that you turn the switch on, but to start it going, you still need to push down the lever in front. There's no accidental turning on that way, like when you're cleaning the outside.
