The sales team member in a local store advised me that older houses often benefit from dehumidifiers and our home really has benefited. After arriving home, we read the manual thoroughly on the first day and we were so impressed after one year we bought a second of the same model to have two locations covered at home.

I got a dehumidifier and it is UNREAL. have it nearly a year now and no complaint. So quiet and has cleared the constant condensation on my windows. Great for drying clothes too. Just ordered a sefte fan and hope its just as great!
