I've always been peripherally interested in blacksmithing. I'd recently had a couple priority shifts and that made some time for pursuing the idea a bit more practical. I went in to Indy Hammered Knives and talked to James about what steps I might take to start pushing this interest, and he informed me about the class. I was so excited to have a concrete plan to begin this process and daunted by learning a new skill as well as the prospect that perhaps I was so deficient of aptitude that I would be unable to progress. But, after the first day of this class I was feeling not only confident but surprisingly well equipped to continue the journey. Day 2 not only built upon the confidence of the first day but made me feel like I was contributing a distinctly personal element to my knife. The finished product is not only beautiful but functional and, as I made a Serbian chef knife, something my family will continue to benefit from for years to come. If you have, what one might consider even a passing interest in blacksmithing or bladesmithing, this class is an absolute must. I went in with low expectations and no experience and came out with a fully functioning knife that I am truly proud of. So grateful to James and Josh for thorough instruction and guidance throughout the process.
