My father loves knifes, but recent surgeries have limited his mobility. I purchased two knife kits for him--he absolutely loves them! It is a great way to keep him occupied and his mind engaged while on the mend. They are now his favorite knives!

I've always been peripherally interested in blacksmithing. I'd recently had a couple priority shifts and that made some time for pursuing the idea a bit more practical. I went in to Indy Hammered Knives and talked to James about what steps I might take to start pushing this interest, and he informed me about the class. I was so excited to have a concrete plan to begin this process and daunted by learning a new skill as well as the prospect that perhaps I was so deficient of aptitude that I would be unable to progress. But, after the first day of this class I was feeling not only confident but surprisingly well equipped to continue the journey. Day 2 not only built upon the confidence of the first day but made me feel like I was contributing a distinctly personal element to my knife. The finished product is not only beautiful but functional and, as I made a Serbian chef knife, something my family will continue to benefit from for years to come. If you have, what one might consider even a passing interest in blacksmithing or bladesmithing, this class is an absolute must. I went in with low expectations and no experience and came out with a fully functioning knife that I am truly proud of. So grateful to James and Josh for thorough instruction and guidance throughout the process.

This is the most beautiful versatile knife I have ever used. I wear a women medium glove and the knife feels great. Can even pare with it. Slices through anything I’ve thrown at it like it is butter. Definitely worth every penny and wouldn’t blink an eye at the price because as I said it is soooo worth it. Actually this is the second one I purchased. I purchased one for my daughter first as an anniversary present. Upon visiting her later and got the pleasure of using her knife I found myself falling in love and by time I was on the plane home I knew one was in my future. Again I can not say enough about this beautiful piece!!

I purchased these blanks with the intent of putting some handles on myself, and the quality of what I received exceeded all expectations! James even sent me some additional instructions to make putting some handles on even easier. I look forward to buying many more as gifts for leaders leaving my organization and I recommend anyone out there reading this give James from IHK a chance to earn your business, because I know he won’t disappoint! Very thankful!

Love This kit!! The blade was beautiful. It came well packaged and in a very nice wooden box with a.CNCd IKV logo on top. I chose the blood wood blanks and they came out beautifully. This kit came with everything including instructions, epoxy, mosaic brass pin and lanyard tube. wood blanks were predrilled to match up and line up with the blade tang. I can't say how impressed I was with this kit. The only thing I might change would be the sheath. It was a little deep for the skinner I received so that when you put the knife in the hand all but disappears making it hard to draw the knife. And I would use a thicker leather like bison or water buffalo. So I will.prob make a new sheath or trim up and reshape this one a little. But if the sheath had been ideal then I would've had to give 6 stars . So instead I can only give 5. Well done!

I am a knife collector and my son gifted me this class. I was apprehensive about what I would learn and how I would be able to make a quality knife like the ones I saw when I entered the shop/classroom. After taking the class, I could not believe I made a knife that I will be proud to own and hand down like the one created. The instructors were phenomenal! I have helped create and taught training sessions and this is one of the best classes I have ever experienced. You need absolutely no experience. The instructors have a tried and true (and nearly fool proof) methodology o guide anyone through the process to create a knife of their choosing. I took the class with my son and my grandson. I would be happy to own all three knives. If you ever thought about attending a class like this, sign up as soon as possible - these classes fill up fast!

I took this class with my man. We had a great time. James took the time to teach me how to make a knife I could be proud to say is my first knife. He broke everything down in easy to learn steps. It was an experience I will never forget!
