FIRST BOOK is a tremendous resource to those of us who are committed to teaching. What I love most is the diversity of books that are offered for children and youth. Many books explore the complexities of characters and topics that our children/youth are challenged with on a daily basis. Several books focus on JOY, HOPE, COURAGE and RESILIENCE when characters are experiencing difficult times. The books selected seem to appeal to everyone's interest! FIRST BOOK offers several guides to various genres and topics and an opportunity to watch authors virtually who highlight their work. The affordability of books provided by FIRST BOOK is its MAJOR feature. It allows teachers to purchase supplementary books for their classroom libraries and give books as gifts to students. First book has been an invaluable resource to purchase beautiful, high quality, diverse books to support our school. Because of the reasonable prices we are able to purchase copies for each classroom for our book of the month program where we read books from diverse authors to the entire school with activities that support social emotional learning and belonging. We also use First Book to purchase fantastic books to give away to our students to keep them excited about reading all summer. First Book allows us to reduce the opportunity gap by providing all students access to books.

Great book for Black History Month-- Students were engaged and had a lot of questions! Shipping was a bit after I expected but this was an order from the book bank so that is to be expected when the shipping comes from publishers.

I am pleased with the selection of books available and like that new titles are frequently added. I take advantage of the book bank to get as many books as I can at a low cost. I also like the book bank to be able to get multiple copies in one box, which is helpful when we distribute books. The website provides good descriptions of the books as well as suggested reader age and that is helpful in choosing what books to order. Service is great; books are shipped quickly and arrive in good condition. First Book has helped me immensely in obtaining good books each year for the approximately 2,500 children we give them to each year at Christmastime!
