After being a long-time customer of 20+ years, it gives me no pleasure in doing this survey and trying to describe how misleading this promotion was and why I may never be a Cedar Electronics (Escort Radar) customer ever again. I'd been considering a new unit for a while since the sound stopped playing in my last one (360). Cedar wanted ~$200 to repair it and I thought why not put that $200 towards a new unit and use the broke sound one on motorcycle (where you can't hear it anyway). So when the promo with $100 off and a trade-in of an older Escort product was sent out, I figured I could send in a non-current unit and get the extra $80 off making it a reasonable deal. That was until I got the email to fill out the trade-in info and got back a message saying they would "evaluate" the trade. Then I noticed the words "up to $80 off" in the original ad. Kind of "small print" type advertising crap everyone hates. But, I waited to see what would happen. After not hearing anything back (or at least not thinking I heard anything), I called any they said Nicki had sent communication on the 5th (9 days ago) that said there was $0 for the trade-in available. That 1) confirmed my suspicion of this "small print" type BS and 2) that the deal really wasn't a great deal since they regularly offer $100 off promos. Then they sent a copy of the email from the 5th - which I then recognized. It is very misleading also in that it reads "Reminder to Send Trade-in Information" or something similar and nothing clear like "Trade-in Evaluation" etc. It reads like you failed to send your trade-in info and here is a reminder to do so for approximately 49 of the 50 or so lines in the email. Then there is one (1) cryptic line about "if your trade-in value is $0, you don't need to send anything in" and another that says something like your trade-in: "$0 since the $100 off exceeds your value" I don't understand why they aren't just more plainly communicative except that they know these communicati...
