I have used dogtra all my life and they have been excellent collars so I moved up to the pathrinder2 so I can set up fence areas on the property

I purchased this for hiking and mountain biking with my Brittany’s and of only tested it out five times near my home while hiking. Overall, it seems to be what I’ll need to keep track of my dogs. The good - it appears to be able to track both of my dogs and I’m able to track them on my phone. I’ve been able to use the phone and the handheld device to keep track of them. I like how it tracks the distance and you can record each outing. Things to be aware of – the app is a bit fiddly and is not always intuitive. I’m fairly text savvy, but have had to Google a couple of things to learn the app. Every time you turn on the app, it has a couple of warnings and it wants to set an initial marker, I’d like to be able to just turn that off. For trying to get your dogs attention, it’s not super easy to go from one dog to another, and it has to be done on the cell phone before you use the provided handheld device. Also, you need to have the handheld device with you in order for everything to work, so if hiking, it helps to have the phone strap to your arm and if mountain biking, you need a mount for your phone on your handlebars. Also, I’m in my 60s and my eyes are not what they used to be, so I need to turn my brightness on my cell phone to the max, which, with the recording of the dogs in the brighter light drains the phone. Just something to be aware of. Most importantly, I feel comfortable knowing where my dogs are and they seem to be responsive when I page them. That ultimately is the goal along with them having fun.

I had to import my Dogtra collar all the way to South Africa, so it took a bit of time to arrive, but honestly the whole experience was good — especially considering it was the first product I’ve ever imported myself. The fence works really well. It’s accurate, easy to set up, and it contains my GSP perfectly. Training him with it was also surprisingly easy, which was such a relief because anyone with a German Shorthaired Pointer knows how energetic they can be 😅. It really gives me peace of mind knowing he’s safe. The collar has also held up well so far — even the waterproofing is doing its job. This model doesn’t have live tracking, but I knew that from the start when I bought it, so no complaints there. Overall I’m really happy with the product and would definitely recommend it. If you ever need a promoter in South Africa, count me and my GSP in! He even has a Border Collie brother, and I’m already considering getting a second collar.
