Benchmade is head and shoulders above that other "B" knife manufacturer. The quality of Benchmade products is excellent and they have a quick order turn around. Plus the veteran discount is also very appreciated. I probably never order another Buck their quality is in the crapper. I thought initially that Benchmade was a little pricey but the quality difference stands out.

The Benchmade Bailout in Crater Blue aluminum instantly became my favorite knife the first time I carried it. I’ve owned a lot of knives over the years, but this one hits the perfect balance between lightweight EDC practicality and premium feel. The Crater Blue aluminum scales look incredible in person. The color stands out without being over-the-top, and the machining gives it a clean, high-end look that feels every bit worth the price. It’s ridiculously light for how solid it feels in hand — sometimes I genuinely forget I’m carrying it until I need it. The M4 blade steel is phenomenal. Edge retention is excellent, and it absolutely flies through cutting tasks. Whether I’m opening boxes, cutting rope, or just using it around the house and outdoors, it feels laser sharp and precise. The tanto blade shape also gives it a more aggressive, modern look without sacrificing usefulness. Benchmade’s AXIS lock is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to their knives, and the Bailout might be my favorite implementation of it. The action is smooth, fast, and addictive. It drops shut effortlessly and feels incredibly satisfying to use. What really makes this knife special to me is how well-rounded it is. It feels tactical without being bulky, premium without being flashy, and practical enough to actually use every day. A lot of knives end up sitting in a drawer because they’re either too heavy, too expensive-feeling to use, or just not comfortable to carry. The Bailout avoids all of that. If I had to keep only one knife from my collection, this would probably be the one.

This knife is perfect. Sharp, minimalistic, and great for the near-everyday use I have for it. Its weight is perfectly proportional and you can literally feel the excellent quality in your hand as you hold it. I’ll never get another brand.
