I’ve owned the 5, 5+, HD6, and S8. All these speakers have given me stellar sound at a reasonable price. When I’ve had a problem, Audioengine’s customer service have been excellent. After years of use, my S8 sub developed an annoying hum. For a very reasonable price, Audioengine sent me a new amplifier. It was easy to install and now the sub, together with my HD6, continue to provide stunning thunder to my TV. The 5+ are in my bedroom where good sound is a must. Thank you, Audioengine.

Audioengine HXL is a very simple source. It has one job, to enhance the sound in a holistic way. It does not aim to create any wow factor by artificial colourisation or selective emphasis. It stays very true to the source material, and improves the overall presentation. The end-to-end extension is excellent so all the information is very well-preserved and accurately reproduced. The overall tonality is neutral. The energy in the tracks are properly conveyed without any extra boost, so while it does not sound dramatically dynamic, it does not sound laid-back either, just right. The music does not jump at you, it simply reveals itself in its full glory and enables you to revel in the minutest of nuances without any effort. The bass region is deep, tight, and highly textured. The midrange is crystal clear, with very natural tonality and note weights. The treble is very crisp, quite airy, and well-extended. But these are not what becomes immediately apparent at the first listen. That honour goes to its technicalities. The background is very quiet and dark. The separation between notes is very distinct. There is a lot of easily perceivable space between notes. The soundstage extends beyond the head in all direction, and has a very precise three-dimensional imaging. The whole presentation is incredibly spacious, transparent, and clean. The notes have a truly natural presence with appropriate note weight, and sharply defined body with noticeable width, height, and depth. It is at the pinnacle of the technicalities with no compromises.

Purchased HD6 for my record player. I also use them for Bluetooth and occasionally computer speakers. The sound projection is amazing and the frequency distribution is top tier. The walnut finish complements my setup well and I plan to purchase more for the house. Truly exceptional! Thank you Audioengine!

You probably don’t hear that, a lot , in Texas. I had some Advents ,when I was 16. They worked and they weren’t fussy. These HD 6”s Work! They aren’t fussy. Beautiful cabinet. Years ago, I’d removed the stand from my amp so it would fit in an old desk config - when I got a new computer I re-arranged things and couldn’t find the stand for the amp, so I wrote support asking if there was a way for me to just by that part. The rep only asked me to pay shipping, and my amp is now happily sitting on its stand again. I really appreciate companies that have great customer support, and empower their representatives to make those decisions. I’ve bought quite a few products from Audioengine over the years, and it’s experiences like this one that will keep me coming back.

I am happy with my speakers. They have a nice crisp clean sound. I just wish they had more bottom. I wish they had a subwoofer out that I could connect to like. I have some other speakers that have a subwoofer out connection. I wish y’all had that subwoofer out connection. It would really solve the base problem. Other than that, I love them and the color is beautiful the yellow.
