While I’m new to BM, I find this Anorak be functional kit. Fit and construction outstanding, looks classy, idea kit for my needs. I’ll purchase other stuff in time. Dirk

I received a $400 anorak and it had a three inch tear in it. I got an email saying it didn’t leave here like that. They said they don’t cover accidental tear. I will NEVER order from them again. Poor customer service. A little sorry goes a long way. I wasn’t expecting or wanting a new one it’s easily sewable. I’m stopping payment now.

I really like the Blackrak. I'm glad I selected the trim and side slits, it looks great. Great quality garment and obvious pride in workmanship at Boreal Mountain. I plan on getting a Rough before next winter. Thank you.

The return of California rain also revived an old hole in my kit-literally. I pack ponchos. This has meant military issue and then commercial copies. Rip stop rips, rubber rubs. They are noisy, even in the white noise of rain. Tailors talk about ‘drape’ and they droop. In a high wind they turn to plastic food wrap with your buns exposed. I thought about my old Australian Drover coat. Then BMA answered my dream. It is SUPERB; silent, hangs like a opera house curtain and, oh keeps you dry while venting within the limits of a poncho. Now a pair of fairies to match?

I do love my anorak, however i kept reading that it was so good at blocking winds, and i found that on a -20 day here in toronto with the gusting winds even with layers under i was getting a chill. i dont know if its too big and so the wind goes through some areas... but i certainly am a bit dissapointed on that end. i love the wolverine fur, its much floofier than in th epictures even! its a lovely touch and helps with the wind.

I’ve had my anorak for three or four years now and it’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made, I absolutely love it. They are 110% worth the investment.

I had wanted a Boreal Mountain Wool Anorak for years. But, when I got an unexpected rebate check, I decided to treat myself. I wanted the 100% wool one because I hate synthetics and plastic in general, and I thought it would bother me that I had compromised by having some in my anorak. But, I also really liked the look of the Rough and people’s description of it being softer appealed to me. I had memories of my father’s itchy green army blanket and didn’t want an anorak made out of that material. After reading several reviews of the loden 100% wool with no negative comments about itchiness, I decided to go for it. It was the right choice for me - very comfortable to wear in freezing temperatures with just a long sleeve t-shirt under it. The anorak does block strong winds but also breathes a bit through which I really like. I have an old Navy issue lined Melton wool pea coat that blocks more wind, but doesn’t allow nearly as much freedom of movement as this anorak does. I have long arms and torso and usually wear an XL-Tall shirt. I wanted there to be plenty of wool under my seat when I sat down outside on a log or even a park bench. So, I measured several times sitting and pulling a tailor’s measuring tape from my neck to my thigh in a sitting position to be sure I’d have enough coverage and ordered the XL with an extra inch added to the sleeves and an extra 3” to the sweep. This also was perfect. Lastly, I had been concerned that the gusset and large hood might make me feel claustrophobic, but they are my favorite features. The hood sits nicely on top of my beanie and doesn’t rub against my ears/head unless I cinch it up. So far I haven’t needed to cinch it to be comfy even in blowing snow. The gusset is warm but not clingy and much less itchy than I thought it might be. All in all I love it!

I grew up wearing wool ~ all our outdoor adventures from the early 60’s through the 80’s, wool was the go~to on family hiking trips, snow camping, and horseback. Later, after flirting with modern fabrics for a number of years and just never finding any that I could say met all my needs, I’ve come back full circle. My new Rough Anorak is just absolutely the Bee’s Knees. It got its baptism with our recent 14°F and 45mph winds with horizontal snow and ice. It took it all like a champ. Coupled with my old WWII era Swiss Army pants along with a felted hat and mittens knitted by my wife, I can truly say: “I Am ~ IronMan” 😸 The fit and finish are outstanding and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. I’m looking forward to really putting it through its paces in the coming years and making it the centerpiece to my winter weather gear. This is a great Anorak! I bought it in July but waited until mid-winter to give feedback after I had a chance to really see it perform. It's windy and cold in the winter on my farm and I feel as warm and dry as my Border Collie that works tirelessly on the farm. Winter doesn't stand a chance against this anorak.

I've purchased two Anoraks, the Voyageur and the canvas for layering. Really love both pieces, amazing quality. Should see many many years of use! I do wear a "utility belt" outside of them for temperature control and for storage pouches ECT, makes for added comfort. Most recently I got the poncho, haven't used it in the rain yet but I have no doubt it will keep me dry! Should also make for a good shelter when needed. I did order the gaiter's but ordered the wrong size, very excited to try them and I was very impressed on my initial experience of them out of the box. Will try and update. Keep up the great work!

Got my Ushanka from Canada to Michigan in only 9 days. Great gear but for one little upgrade I did myself. I put a barrel lock on the strings and I think it will work better than tieing. jmo I wear eye glasses and should I run into rain or snow and need to cover my glassses I just pull the lock down across the bottom of the Ushanka reverse the hat on my head and it creates a nice hat with a brim. Also works for shading the sun.

This is a great wool anorak: the wool is very thick and very warm. It a expertly made and it exceeds my expectations. The fit of this garment works great for me. Customer service also exceeds expectations.

Excellent fit! Measurements were dead on and trim is very nice. The wool feels soft and is heavy; a good indicator of quality materials. Will be utilizing in very snowy conditions. Cant wait!

My husband absolutely loves his new anorak! It keeps him warm and comfortable when he is outside walking our dog or out in the wilderness of Alaska. The colors are beautiful and it looks great and fits him perfectly. Definitely recommend this awesome anorak!

The product is very good and beautiful; I am waiting for the cold to start (in April) to use it in Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales. The dispatch from Canada to Santiago/Chile was perfect, it arrived exactly the day they said it would.
