Smooth order

The first thing that strikes you on unpacking is the quality of this tool. The chrome plating is perfect and feels thick and smooth. The finish of the body of the tool is of a similar high standard with all surfaces polished and free from marks and burrs. It has that very pleasing feel as you roll it around in your hands and just feels right. The mechanism is retained by a large and strong circlip rather than small screws that can and do fall out! Fitting the mechanism from the bottom of the head gives a good sized smooth upper surface that allows the user to apply pressure to help with stubborn fasteners . The reversing lever is a small detail but well worthy of praise here. The lever sits in a recess that helps an oily finger locate and activate the mechanism. The lever has a pleasing positive action and is shaped to be operated by the thumb.. The ratchet is a 84 tooth design with the obvious benefit of a small rotation angle per click. The click itself is a pleasing mechanical click that inspires confidence in that it has indeed clicked to the next tooth. I like this feature when working blind in an engine bay, think of it as user feedback. The handle is a similar ergonomic profile that feels and looks like the comfort grip handles Snap on use, that is no bad thing! The handle consists of a tough red material with a comfortable black compliant grip. I used the ratchet to loosen off some hub nuts that were torqued to 250 foot pounds and it did this with ease. At no point did I think or feel like I was even close to the ratchets limits and to be fair this figure demands a step up to 3/4" drive so to marks there. In summary it is a very well made tool at a great price that deserves a central place in anybody's tool kit and can be relied on to take on any job asked of it, now and for many many years to come.
