This is my first trip with this—planning for a month abroad at 7kg/15. 5 pounds. After using it (see comments below), I have packed a different crossbody bag for daily use that stays close to the body and doesn’t protrude, and that has easily accessible zippers next to my body and on he outside. Cotopaxi 50L Upside: 1) I like that it holds plenty; 2) is comfortable wearing and walking—the chest and hip/waist bands help, and I tested it on a mile walk at home; 3) I see the potential benefit of hiking or going on a long walk with the small pack zipped on top of the big one. Downsides: 1) Unless I lay it on its back flat, the main pack will not independently stay upright from any side or on its bottom—not even against a wall. Upright, it slides down, and upside down with the small tote off (so there is a flat surface) or lying on its side, it is top heavy and flips over; 2) the small pack zipper tab is at the bottom when wearing crossbody and the pack falls forward and down (zipper out of sight), so it is REALLY inconvenient to access anything inside like a phone or passport. There is a sleeve in back of the small pack that is somewhat protects things from falling out, but you have to pull the crossbody straps flat to get things in and out; 3) The cross body front pocket, while holding a lot, internally wraps under the bottom of the bag, so my phone, passport and playing card size Bible slid down so they weren’t visible when opening the zipper, and I feared I had lost them, but reached deep in and found them. The pack is therefore okay in my opinion but has room for improvement.
