Thank you Spring-Start as my mechanic wants to replace the actuator, timing chain, tensioners, water pump,... Support is super whom helps me along the way when I came across difficulties as well as selecting the correct version. For future DIYers, please note the most important prep work is to shim as hard as possible behind the vtc actuator as cam and tensioner would twist it a little that you cannot thread some of the screws back in. Please also note there is limited space to unscrew the 5 point torx nut. I started the crv afterwards and it does not rattle anymore.

I have a 2014 Honda crv with 106000 miles. Had that VTC rattle on cold startup. Matched the right spring that came with the kit with the one that came out. I put it back together and the rattle is gone. Thanks guys.

I have never had such a great Customer Support experience, regardless of product or company size. The level of instruction material, product quality and delivery are only surpassed by the timely email support received while I was in the middle of the repair. Granted, the repair was just made this afternoon but it appears took have remedied my VTC issue. Experiences such as this give me hope for this country.

Kit worked as stated. Removing the locating pin for inspection was not easy as mine was in the locked position and had tension on it. Ended up relieving tension with a wrench on the cam

The cold start rattle has not reappeared since installing the increased tension spring. Highly recommend!

My 2010 CRV has had the start-up rattle for a while and it always bothered me. The instructions were straight forward and it took me about 1:15 start to finish (mainly because I triple checked everything).

With the instructions included with the kit I feel like this is a job almost anybody can do as well. Though I consider myself very experienced I feel as if my teenage sons could have done it properly with nothing more than the paper instructions and the couple tools needed. I work for NASA so naturally I had a handful of questions before committing to purchase. I sent an email on a Friday night around 10:30 and got a reply back within 10 minutes, how AMZING IS THAT! Spring Start is a company that has done a ton of research on the start up rattle associated with our k24s, I’ve had the rattle forever and started looking at the repair / fix. A little googling I found this company. After a handful of questions back and forth I placed my order. Worried it would take forever because it was coming from Canada it showed up in less than a week. Even after receiving the item I got quick reply’s back via email - seriously the customer service is top notch, a rarity these days. Basically you take out the old spring in your VTC and replacing with a new designed spring. Slap it all back together and it’s good to go. I spent 30 mins to finally get that annoying rattle gone!

I'm not sure if it works for other ppl, but it didn't work for me (2013 Honda accord), timing chain seem to be good and tight, accuator also look good. I replaced the springs and oem tensioner. Mine rattle at cold start or leaving vehicle off for more than 8hours. Guess I'll just live with the rattle.

Spring worked like a charm took care of the cold start rattling

It took a while to solve because my locking pin was jammed inside the boar of the VTC actuator, but once this got worked out- with a lot of help from customer service at Spring-Start- I was able to reassemble my 2015 Honda Fit, and the dreaded noise was completely gone! This company rocks. If you are thinking about trying to fix your noisy VTC actuator while saving a ton of money as a DYI project, don't hesitate to work with these guys- you won't regret it!
