Fast service no hassels?

My purchase of an sr800 & extension tube followed 5 years of good & bad experiences using: Japanese wire mesh roasting baskets, Nuvo Eco Ceramic Roasters, Whirley Pops and a 250g capacity Kaldi. One of the things I like about the sr800 is that one’s sensory experiences remain vital. It must be the best device in terms of observing the bean color transitions. I’ve used many heat sources and find the sr800’s dual adjustment heat features; fan speeds & temp levels, to be stable & predicable with readings that easily combined with roast plans and histories. Oh, and notation is lots easier when both hands are free. Prior to my purchase I was wrestling with the Behmor VS Gene and repeatedly came across cooling issues: “… getting the beans out quickly to cool externally.” Faster cooling was a concern of mine as well and one that I figured out nicely. One, of a few changes I made, was drilling a hole in the chaff basket to extend a 10” probe into the roast chamber; extra data helped me with RoR control. The Home Roasting staff has helped out more than a few times; they’re always able to answer questions and offer advise by phone or email. It’s nice to know they service their machines and sell parts. Anyway, I’m very happy with my model & vendor. In the nearly six months I’ve had the machine I’ve roasted on average 6 to 8 roast every two weeks and all my past favorites have transitioned to roast as good or better and certainly with more consistency and more measurable data to finesse the RoR.

Save money and buy this or other similarly capable machine to start the journey. It is much quicker with much better results. No burnt beans at all!!! I wished I had started with this. Only complaint would be the noise but it is to be expectet. Just listen carefully for the 1st crack when the time is nearing.
