Very well thought out system. Easy to install and connect to HomeKit.

I'm good with technology but not the best as a handy man. I was able to install the device and get it seen in both Home Assistant and Apple HomeKit in less than an hour! I initially added the iQ3 Pro to HomeKit using Apple Home. Super easy, worked reliably. But since I am using Home Assistant for more advanced home automation than can be done in Apple Home right now, I decided to de-register it from HomeKit and add control it from Home Assistant. I then published the device in Home Assistant over to Apple HomeKit so it is seen in both places. Works great. Best part is that I have Home Assistant auto-close the door after 20 minutes of being open. You can do that using the Tailwind app too, but the advantage of doing it in Home Assistant was that I could publish a virtual switch to Apple HomeKit that disables the auto-close. That we when we are doing yard work it is a simple to pull up Apple Home and turn off the auto-close virtual switch to have the garage stay open until that switch is turned back on. Man is this home automation stuff cool. Has come such a long way. The iQ3 Pro is one of the most consistent smart home devices I have in my home automation.

I bought the Tailwind iQ3 Smart Automatic Garage Controller PRO with J-track mounted sensor based on a recommendation from a friend. It seemed like a great automation solution for my "dumb" LiftMaster garage controller. The product was easy to install following the detailed video instructions. I did not run into any issues and was able to get a very clean and neat installation. The accompanying app works well and provides all the features that I was looking for from voice commands to close the garage (via Google Home integration) to automatic opening and closing when pulling in/out of the driveway. I also love the fact that Tailwind has a WearOS app that I can have on my Android watch so that I don't need to pull out the phone to open/close the garage door! I'm very happy with this product and highly recommend it as an easy to use garage door automation solution.

Works fantastic

I've enjoyed using the Tailwind product over the past few weeks. It's very configurable and offers features that others do not have and/or cannot reliably implement. I stopped using a competitive product once Tailwind was up and running. That other product was unreliable and would do unsafe things like re-opening a closed garage door without my knowledge. I've had no such problems with Tailwind.

It was not as straight forward to install. But it did install. Now that I am using it, the Siri interface is sporadic at. best. Locks out every so often.

Great product

We're very happy with our Tailgate! We bought it because we wanted something that should work through a change of door opener (if this ever happened) and that could connect with multiple home automation platforms, and the Tailgate appears to be very well supported by the company. You get enough accessories and numpty-proof instructions on installing the unit. Yes, it wasn't as straightforward as some of the cheaper units, but the benefit of hard wiring the control unit into the door motor means it should be way more reliable in the coming years. Good product, and worth it.

This is the best garage door opener I have used. Works great with Apple Homekit and Amazon Alexa.

Better instruction for using with Google Home would be helpful

I currently have a Tailwind to control both my garage door and gated entrance. Purchased this second one to keep as an extra one in the event I ever have problems with my original one. Best online opener on the market, and I have tried several.

I love my iQ3 and Tailwind in general. The device is rock solid stable and Scott worked with me personally to get it integrated with Homekit. The Home Assistant integration is rock solid and part of HA Core. 10/10 would recommend. In fact, I’ve already bought my second to control one or my gates.
