This extension piece works well, one just needs to drill 2 holes at the desired height. A bonus is that even with this extension piece fitted, the ladder still fits under the original tent cover.

First use with the carrier, seemed to hold really well in heavy wind. Second purchase from frontrunner though where it arrived with missing parts. Only received 2/8 nut caps.
