I’ve been looking for an alternative to tennis shoes for my work at the hospital. I’m a ICU doctor who works long shifts and I’ve grown tired of all the tennis shoes that wear down in a matter of months and can be cumbersome to put in and take off. I’ve tried Brooks, Hoka, ASICS, Ons, etc. all the same result. Comfortable, sure, but wear down so quickly and in the long run not worth nearly $200. I also never liked the fact that tennis shoes are fabric and I’m exposed to all kinds of bodily fluids. I wanted something to offer support, easy to walk in when in a rush around the hospital, easy to slip on and off without touching the shoe too much, and could be wiped down, I’ve tried the closed crocs which could be wiped down but had no support and didn’t provide the forward motion. Birkenstocks are more comfortable but very flat with no forward propelling motion when walking. After putting it off for years I decided to try the tried and true danskos. These are the keepers. These are easy to slip on and off, can be wiped down, propel me forward when walking, give me good arch support and look stylish and more formal with my scrubs. These are around the same price point as the higher end tennis shoes but I know will last much longer. The only reason I took off a star is that the top of the shoe can make the top of my foot just a little sore by the end of the shift but this is something I suspect will loosen with time and wear. I usually wear a 9 but sized up to the 9.5-10 category and that was the way to go, you have to have some space between your heel and the shoe to allow your foot to move naturally. These are my solution to the years long search for a good worthwhile lasting work shoe.

Absolutely perfect for standingb8 hours on your feet! The 2.0 XP are great for walking but these are way better for standing in one place for 8 hrs with terrible sciatic nerve pain.

Not my favorite shoe from Dansko. A little loose and not as comfortable as I’d like. Kind of thin on bottom so not much support.
