The central characters of this novel are Ben, Polly, and Vicki; Polly and Vicki are long-time friends who live together, but they need a third person to make their rent affordable. Ben, though famous, is a stranger to them; Polly starts with a rather negative opinion about him, while Vicki is more open and sympathetic. They decide to try it out, and the rest of the novel is about their evolving relationships. Each of these three characters comes with their personal baggage. Ben is a disgraced professional cyclist who has left the sport because of a doping scandal. Polly and Vicki are both cycling fans, but Polly now suffers from a chronic illness and spends most of her days in a wheelchair. Vicki is a workaholic and carries her driven approach to life into her leisure time as well, including her cycling. Faith is not as huge a part of this story as it is in Kathleen Jowitt’s other books; Polly is a Christian and has church friends, and this is mentioned in a very matter-of-fact way, as is Vicki’s sexual orientation and the fact that part-way through the book she begins a relationship with a girlfriend. The author doesn’t make a big deal of these things; they are simply part of the diversity of life. I found this refreshing. I know next-to-nothing about the world of cycling, but this did not affect my enjoyment of the book. I learned a lot about disability, about wheelchair users and the challenges facing them, especially in a country where much of the infrastructure is old and wasn’t created with them in mind. I also appreciated the book’s awareness of what, from a Christian point of view, I would refer to as ‘the corporate nature of sin’. Yes, Ben has cheated, and has suffered the consequences, but the problem of doping in sport is bigger—much bigger—than the choices of one individual. There’s a love story but it’s not intrusive and it doesn’t take over the book (although I could see it coming a long time before it arrived!). Over the past month Kathleen Jowi...
I bought this book a few weeks ago, but I didn't have time to read it. But when winter vacation came I decided to read it, and it was a boredom buster! Every page had a new twist, villain, or joke. I keep rereading it almost everyday!
I’ve used this weekly planner every year for as long as I can remember.
Nice looking Cup but sadly it's hand wash only adding extra work in the kitchen while all my other mugs go in the dishwasher.
Cute book for new readers. Written well, illustrated nicely.
This book is a vastly entertaining read. Its engaging plot is supported by a cast of fascinating characters that audiences relate to and empathise with. The focus on sacrifice for your friends and for the world brings meaning into the plot. The book made me feel like I was protecting the people I cared for.
Accessible and interesting book on tangible climate change solutions.
Toller Cranston: Artistic Impressions is such a beautiful book! The collection of images is absolutely stunning, capturing the imagination, colour, and emotion that make Toller’s work so unique. I especially loved the insights into his artistic process—they give a real sense of how he thought, created, and saw the world. It’s inspiring to get a peek into the mind of such an iconic Canadian artist. Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering his art for the first time, this book is a joy to explore and return to again and again.
I would give an even lower review - online it states there were 9 pairs but they actually had 0; I know this is not any of the employees fault but I wish indigo would actually update their stock.
This book locked me in from the first page, and I loved every second of it! This author knows exactly how to hook me, and she did it again by pushing all my favorite buttons. Danger, intensity, and that delicious feeling of being not just protected, but fiercely so, by a hero who takes his job and the heroine very seriously. From the start, the tension is sharp and immediate, and I loved how quickly the story pulled me into that edge-of-your-seat mindset where I just know everything is about to go sideways. Cass? Total alpha goodness. Controlled, watchful, lethal when necessary and utterly undone by Agnes, the woman he’s guarding. I loved the way their connection builds under pressure, where every glance feels loaded and every moment alone feels stolen. Their chemistry crackles, but it’s grounded in trust, instinct, and that quiet “I’ve got you no matter what” energy that makes my heart race. Cynthia Eden is so good at blending emotional intensity with real danger, and it works beautifully here. By the time I finished, I was buzzing. This is romantic suspense done right. Fast-paced, emotionally charged, and deeply satisfying. This book gave me thrills, swoons, and that irresistible protector vibe I never get tired of. If you love high stakes, fierce heroes, and romance forged in fire, I highly recommend this one!
It took awhile to come. The wait was worth it. My kids had a sleepover and did the activities with their friends.
Party Crash Your Career & Life by Allan James Moore is a really engaging and motivating read. The book feels honest and refreshingly real, especially in the way Moore shares personal stories from his own life to show how “party crashing” can actually lead to real opportunities. Instead of waiting around for the perfect invitation or moment, the book encourages readers to take chances and put themselves out there. What stood out most to me was how practical the advice felt. It’s inspiring without being preachy, and it comes across as someone sharing what they’ve learned rather than telling you what to do. Overall, it’s a great read for professionals, entrepreneurs, or anyone who feels stuck waiting for success to come to them. It’s equal parts motivation, mentorship, and guide—and it might be the push some people need to finally go after what they want.
I’ve read snippets posted online by the author and I’m confident that it will present a clear and compelling picture of the peril of antisemitism in Canada and abroad, and the nefarious forces financing the propaganda campaign that was unleashed even prior to 10/7. We face a very real threat from Islamic extremism and a well-financed campaign infiltrating every corner of our nation. Warren has worked to expose this and share the danger to our democracy posed by the so-called Palestinians, their “useful idiots” and their financial backers.
Beautiful story of accepting yourself as you are! Characters are fun and inviting
What a great story of friendship and living yourself as you are
I bought this book 2 weeks ago. And omg such a lovely subtle story. Love in Frames is a beautifully written, emotional love story that stays with you. The characters feel real, the moments are tender, and the writing has a soft, poetic flow. It captures love in a quiet, meaningful way and makes you appreciate the small moments that matter most. A truly touching read.
Loved it! Murder mystery with a bit of history. An enjoyable read about my ancestors and my home town.
Wonderful! He's the modern Shakespeare! The play is a top notch for stage and cinematic performances.
It never even occurred to me that I would have to check the contents of these crackers but they had only a paper crown, a card with some crappy jokes, and stickers that say “Who Am I?” without any accompanying game. Worst crackers ever - my nieces were so confused and disappointed. Complete waste of money and scam.
Absolutely love this story. Love the illustrations too! Well done!
