I read about Blackwing pencils and decided to give them a try. I’ve been sketching/drawing with pencils for over 70 years and have to admit the Blackwing product is excellent quality in both the “lead” and the wood casing. I will re-order for myself and as gifts for people I like.

Product arrived quickly and in great order.

The pencils are housed in a sturdy, well-made, stylish black container. It was very easy to order them but it took close to 2 weeks to receive the pencils. I enjoy using this type of Blackwing lead. It's soft but it does maintain a point well and long enough. But, make sure to have a sharpener nearby. The black lead is beautiful and very classy. Use this lead to create drawings but not as a structural base for a colored pencil drawing. It's way too black.

I’m not an illustrator or artist, nor do I typically use pencils myself, but I bought these for my husband and daughter. One is a professional illustrator, and the other is an avid drawer. As soon as they tried these pencils, they immediately felt the difference. My husband usually doesn’t keep art supplies in their original boxes, he believes art supplies are meant to be used, and he tends to buy the most affordable options since he goes through them so quickly. But he has kept this audition set in its box and refuses to part with it. He truly notices the difference in quality and loves the feel. My daughter was excited to receive her own set for her birthday, as she also noticed the difference right away. Unfortunately for her, this is one gift my husband was not willing to share. My daughter was thrilled to receive her own set for her birthday after trying her father’s. She noticed the difference immediately, though this is one gift he wasn’t quite ready to share.

Best pencils in the world, as far as I’m concerned. Very smooth and dark.
