Thank you for reaching out. I purchased the chisel based on the excellent review in Fine Wood Working magazine. I was disappointed by the amount of time required to flatten and remove scratches from the back of the chisel. One deeper scratch remains that would require a lot of work to remove. I was considering purchasing a 1/2" chisel but it is on hold until I use this chisel for more time. Thanks, Alan

A complete joy to use, easily my new favorite plane.

I have bought this plane iron for a vintage 5 and a half. It fits perfectly (after filing the mouth a bit as highlighted in the description). The tool come sharp out of the box, does not require anything, setup and go. It remains sharp for about 4-5 times longer in my experience compared to the original blade. I can only recommend.
