I am still in the pre-evaluation question phase. But judging from the scope of the questions, I have a lot to learn. But I like the explanations for each question's result's. I like it very much. Thank you!

As a non-traditional student who
As a non-traditional student who graduated with an accounting degree at 34 years old, attempting to pass the CPA exam while working full time was an incredibly frustrating challenge. I studied using a competitor's program (Jaeger) and was not successful, giving up after multiple exam failures. 6 years later, I decided to try it again. Having just turned 40, I thought "now or never." I gave Surgent a try after reading many positive reviews. At first I was very skeptical, because I had read positive reviews about other exam prep courses, too. Also, I wasn't quite sure how to use the software at first. That's where the one-on-one tutoring helped me to develop a study plan. I would take the hourly study recommendations with a grain of salt. The Surgent time tracker says that I studied 200 hours for FAR, but that only counts the hours I spent doing practice MCQs and watching videos while online. I spent at least another 200 hours writing note-cards and reading the textbook. In the end, I was overprepared for FAR, passing with an 86. However, if you graduated recently, you probably won't need to study as much as I did. Overall, I will say that the Surgent ready score is fairly accurate. I made sure my ready scores exceeded 85 each time I took an exam (Surgent recommends 80), and my actual exam scores were mostly within 3-5 points of my ready score. The only exception was AUD - I only studied for a month, because I was more confident with the material. I had a ready score around 85, but scored 78 on the actual exam. That ended up being my lowest score of the 4 exams. I highly recommend Surgent to anyone who has struggled with the CPA exam in the past. The software tracks your weaknesses and lets you really hone in on those areas. I do not believe I could have passed the CPA without Surgent's help, at least not nearly as efficiently. Every time I received my score after taking an exam, I was shocked at the positive result. Thank you Surgent for helping me to reach thi...

Passed all 4 but studied MUCH more than "estimated"
I used Surgent and passed all 4 sections, audit taking me two tries. I purchased Surgent CPA Review quite honestly because it was one of the cheapest options. I am a firm believer that you can pass these exams with any of the materials on the market as long as you really put in the time and effort. I think the content, videos, and textbooks, and responsiveness of customer service are all good, but my main complaint is that I do NOT agree with Surgent's main selling point. Surgent's main selling point is something to the effect of, "we'll help you pass faster than our competitors." After taking the initial assessment, you are given an estimate on the number of hours it will take you to get to an 80% ReadyScore. Here are my estimated hours in comparison to the actual hours I spent. FAR: 67 estimated, 171 actual BEC: 49 estimated, 96 actual REG: 56 estimated, 124 actual AUD: 42 estimated, 141 actual Maybe I am slightly slower at studying than the "average" person, but I was also taking the exams while in an accounting Master's program, which should have cut down on how much I needed to study. I also feel that I am efficient at studying and used the software to its full potential. Regardless, I do not agree that using Surgent will lower your study time. This misleading claim is something that I wish I was aware of as a buyer. Planning to study 67 hours but actually needing to study 171 hours for an exam is a HUGE difference. Glad I passed the exams and Surgent definitely helped get me there, but absolutely do not build your study schedule around their time estimates.

Maybe the format isn't for me but I am having trouble figuring out what to read and which videos to watch. If the questions are similar to the test I should be ok as I've done well on the practice exams.

I just started using Surgent
I just started using Surgent and so far it's good. I wish there were live sessions like some other review courses provide. The coaches at Surgent aren't very prompt in their replies when you email them. They only offer technical help for maneuvering the website, but not if you are struggling to understand a certain topic. The video lectures are really good, but it lacks audio lectures, even though it is advertised in the passes.

It’s okay for a study
It’s okay for a study program. Videos could be more engaging and couldn’t include a copy of the slides talked about in the lecture videos.

Saved My Life!
It was March 2019, and I had just received another failing grade from my BEC section. I decided to find a better review program because clearly Wiley was not working out for me. I had Wiley since June 2016, and since then I had taken BEC twice, REG twice, and AUD three times. I had yet to make it to FAR under Wiley. Out of the seven total exams that i took since June 2016, I only managed to pass REG, and AUD...however my REG had expired come March 2019. Once I signed on with Surgent, studying became FUN. The fact that Surgent has you do an assessment phase to see how much you know already before you even start studying is great. Right when I dived in with Surgent, I started to tackle the BEC section...and my assessment score was EXACTLY the score that I got on the exam back when I failed it under Wiley...so I knew right there an then that Surgent was reliable. Video Lectures made the text make sense, and even gave out great study tips and tricks that i used on my exam. After i was done studying my practice exam score and ready score were both 84, my actual test result for BEC was a 77!!! and i even left one entire writing simulation blank. Right after I dove into retaking my REG that had expired, I only spent 54 hours studying for REG with Surgent and my readyscore and practice exam score were both 87....took the exam in October and my actual score for REG ended up being 85!!! So within a span of 7 months I was able to pass just as many exam sections as I did under Wiley in 2.5 years!!!! After that i was finally able to move on to FAR section..a section i had NEVER tackled before...up to that point I had taken AUD, BEC, & REG three times EACH!!!!....My AUD was due to expire at the end of February 2020, so i HAD to pass FAR on my first shot! It took me 145 hours between October 2019 and February 2020, but I managed to finish studying all of the materials and had a ready score of an 84 and a practice exam score of an 79!!! I went to take the exam in the middle of Febr...

I have been studying for the FAR for a month now and find the Surgent videos, reading and the practice tests to be very helpful. I feel like I made the right decision for myself when I chose Surgent.
