Cute adaptation, perhaps a little confusing

This is a delightful project - the artwork is a perfect pastiche, and the poetry is a vast improvement over the original version first posted on Deviant Art. That said, I think it does kind of presuppose that the reader is already familiar with the story of the Call of Cthulhu - it rattles through the narrative very fast, too fast I would think, for a beginner reader to make sense of everything. I haven't read the Littlest Lovecraft adaptation, which is also a 'Call of Cthulhu adapted into dactyllic meter with illustrations for children' sort of book, so I am not sure how they compare on that score. My other criticism is that the paper used to print this book is incredibly thin, especially considering that this is a hardback book with an otherwise high-quality cover. It feels fragile in my hands and I wouldn't expect it to last long if a child got hold of it. I hope this was just a matter of the printers accidentally loading the wrong paper rather than a deliberate decision.

As disorganized as most Glorantha

As disorganized as most Glorantha products, honestly. That's to be expected. Please think about putting concise, followable character creation rules in someday.

A hardcopy worth owning.

I'm REALLY liking this current trend at Chaosium with their full-color, high-quality hardcore books; they look, feel and smell like those anniversary/special editions I've bought over the years (and being a Keeper since 4th Edition, I've got a few). I also like that Chaosium finally adopted the Player's & GM's Guides format. Great, great work - looks like ol' Petersen and Staffard really did return and whip 'em into shape!

Dig.

I dig it, to be sure, the amount of information and suggestions are invaluable, especially for a beginning Keeper of AL, such as myself. It's certainly better than just relying on the magic section of the Keeper Rulebook. It has, what I'm finding to be a normal occurrence, the odd editing misses here and there, which is fine, I suppose. Little things like that. But all in all, it's good, guys. I dig it. I'll be purchasing the physical version when it is made available. Best, - Joshua Clark

Good with some shortness

This is a good starter for any GM wanting to get into the Call of Cthulhu rpg 7e and shows a gentle approach on how to GM a game successfully and continue the story with an imagination of your own. However, this campaign is very short. It is expected with the small price for the story itself, but only includes the bare minimum to get a story started or maybe a two to three session overall gameplay (maybe to give the GM some rest? or to take a lesuirely break from running and fighting the unknown). Overall it is a good story with nice characters with some given dimension, that can be milked as much as possible, but a very very very anticlimactic ending.

A beautifully presented tome that means I can have all my mythos magic in one place. Buy it if you're a Keeper OR an Investigator!

Well worth the price!

This product is simply gorgeous; a high quality, full-color hardback. I've been a Keeper (and sometimes Investigator) since 4th Edition and have bought many an anniversary/special edition of the CoC rules over the past (two?!) decades... and this book looks and feels like one of those special editions. I'm also happy that Chaosium finally adopted the "Player & GM handbook" format. And though I haven't ran any 7th Edition games yet, I can tell from what I've read that I'm really going to like the updated ruleset. Cheers!

The Guide to Glorantha (slipcase set)

Big beautiful books! Get a laptop desk or wrist braces because they're heavy reading (literally - 7 lbs each).

A wonderful asset for any keeper.

This book is ideal for any Keepers who want to make magic the main focus in their games or want to have a large list of spells to craft a scenario around. To book lends itself more to preplanning and while many of the spells are organized by type, you will still probably need to read the book front to back several times to find the exact spells you want. Overall, however, the book is expertly laid out and filled with great spells and advice. The intro paragraphs give you a great series of concepts to make each spell and its effects unique. My favorite part of the book is actually the 1D100 chart of period materials that makes it easy to create creepy shopping lists for your players or villains. So if your like me and can't divorce Magic and the Cthulhu Mythos this book is for you but those who aren't as in love with magic can probably get by with the main rule book.

Essential for Keepers

Let me just say how happy I am that I bought this. I love the way it was written like a real book of spells. It's a fantastic resource! The art is beautiful. I cannot wait for the print edition to be a permanent fixture on my coffee table.

Almost perfect

The Keepers screen (like the core rule book) is well made and you can tell a lot of love and attention was put into it. The bonus scenarios are a major plus. But a few flaws keep it from being perfect. The screen itself is just a couple inches too short and the print came out a little dark so the mural is difficult to see. There are also numerous typos in the extra materials (also an issue with the core rulebook)
