"CULT OF CTHULHU GIVES TWO TENTACLES UP!"
Great site! Quick delivery! EXCELLENT product! This game is big fun. On a side note for your suggestion box, I'd recommend printing up a high-end leather bound version of your rule books. Something in the style of Lovecraft's Necronomicon. Seems fitting.

A very good purchase, with amazing service.
I have all of the books that I ordered, in perfect condition, despite the state of the weather in my area of the world as of late. It took longer than I expected or would have liked to be honest, but all of my concerns were answered very kindly and handled quickly and deftly. 5 stars for enjoyment, 5 for quality of products.

Very Good Campaign For Pulp, But...
Overall I think this is a very good campaign for a Pulp Cthulhu run, but I feel like the genre still hasn't realized it's full potential. The plot is interesting, but it seems more rail-roady than it needs to be; a more "Masks of Nyarlathotep" sandbox approach would have made this a truly great campaign. True, there is an illusion of player choice, but the players are pretty much constrained to do certain things, and the fact that some of the scenarios can be skipped without completely derailing the adventure smacks more of poor editorial control than player choice. The threats, once identified, are fairly predictable, and really the players simply become a sort of pawn in a three-way power struggle that it's hard for them to be truly invested in. Still, there is a lot of action-packed adventure, and the very first scenario starts off in media res with a literal bang, so the players should have a rollicking good time, even if they do feel like they're being led around by the nose by the end of it all. What all Pulp campaigns really need is a sense of mystery and adventure that makes the players feel like they are in an Indiana Jones movie -- you never know what's going to happen next, and the threats keep changing just when you think you've got it all figured out. Plus, at the end, there's a bit of mystery there that you'll never unravel. Unfortunately, too many scenario writers think you have to completely wrap everything up in a nice tidy package instead of leaving things open and leaving a touch of mystery about things (which, after all, "man was not meant to know").

Thirty Years of Mythos Magicks
(Originally published at www.thegaminggang.com) I sometimes chuckle when I run across something which is a stark reminder of just how long I've been playing table top games. Gen Con turning fifty this summer is a prime example of one of these “zoinks!” moments; I've been alive nearly as long as the convention has been around. Looking through Chaosium's recently released The Grand Grimoire of Cthulhu Mythos Magic made me stop as well to consider the many years of enjoyment our wonderful hobby has given to both myself and my friends. It's true gentle reader, I've been playing Call of Cthulhu since I first discovered that original boxed set of Mythos goodness on a game store shelf back in 1981. Over the years Call of Cthulhu has undergone numerous revisions, been licensed out in a plethora of media incarnations, and seen literally hundreds of adventures published by Chaosium and other companies. Not only has the RPG ridden the ever growing wave of popularity regarding the works of the late author H.P. Lovecraft over the last few decades but also, many times, been the impetus behind that wave. CofC remains an immensely popular RPG even today; ICV2 recently revealed the 7th edition core books were the fifth best selling RPGs in game stores for Fall 2016. The first twenty pages of The Grand Grimoire of Cthulhu Mythos Magic (just The Grimoire from here out) are devoted to discussing magic as it applies to the Lovecraftian setting. Those who may not be intimately familiar with CofC probably don't realize player characters can't simply run around casting spells all willy nilly, as PCs are apt to do in other RPGs, since dabbling in such eldritch arts can have devastating effect on characters' health and sanity. I believe the following quote from the introduction of The Grimoire nicely sums up Mythos magic in a nutshell: “Wielding otherworldly energies damns the wielder, the more one drinks of the unnatural power, the greater the infection becomes. If reading a tome can be...

Blood Tide Not Quite Complete
This is a very interesting suplement as far as background information and feel go. However, as going through the book there are some things mentioned that did not make it into the book such as prices for buying ships, charts for indicating how the mentioned effects of different level of sail impact performance, etc. Without this information the book is much more difficult to use for ship vs ship combat. On the other hand the magic system that is introduced Voodoo is great and the blackpowder weapons and creatures are a nice addition to any game. I with Chaosium would do a better job editing products before release so that more finished and competitive products hit the shelves. IF you are looking to add a piraty feel to your game but are not interested in ship to ship combat or are willing to hand wave some rules or write your own, which is what my group has done, this is still a good product to addd to your shelf.

Great supplement, little QOL would give it 5 stars
Excellent scenarios, background, and handouts that are easy enough for new keepers to follow. Everything is in 6th edition, but its very easy to update to 7th edition. The only thing keeping this PDF from 5 stars is there are no bookmarks within the PDF (something I've come to expect from the high quality of other Chaosium PDFs). This has to be one of the must-have's for any Call of Cthulhu enthusiast.

Most eldritch, indeed!
Wonderful! This book is incredible nt just for the sheer number for spells, but also for the background and ideas for use.

Call of Cthulhu - 5 star system, 10 Star production
I've been waiting my whole life for this game. The definitive version of Call of Cthulhu, a character driven game that forefronts story, mystery, and intrigue. The rules have been cleaned, simplified, and given their best production ever. The Investigator Handbook offers some great insight for character players while still being a functional rule book (and a useful tool for the Keeper). Highly recommended!
