I put this in the basement next to a dehumidifier after needing to throw almost everything out because of mold/mildew from flooding. There are still moisture issues that need to be addressed but the dehumidifier has managed to get the average humidity in the basement to about 40%. Even with the humidity cut in half there was still an absolutely awful mildew dank musty odor that permeated through the whole house. I put the unit on high nonstop since the day I got it and the smell is almost completely gone! The air is noticeably cleaner throughout the entire house- no more random dust particles floating through sunbeams. A gray/black sticky dust that used to cover everything within a week or two is seemingly gone. Only long term use and time will tell about the permanent benefits. . . but as of now (a little over a month since installing) the entire feel of my house has improved in ways I didn't know needed improving. I've slept better, sneezed and coughed less, my cat seems much happier. . . it's a decent chunk of money but if you want to clean your home's air- this little unit is a game changer. I highly recommend it. FWIW- my home is not huge, only about 800sq. ft. So if you have a larger home you may need to buy more than one unit to experience the same radical changes I have- but if you really need it, I assure you: the benefits outweigh the costs.
