i gave it to my sister as a gift. She had a collection of unicorn figures when we were young but gave it away to her daughter years ago. i gave it to her to remind her that i still see her, even though we are both getting older. She loves it. It is a beautiful piece of jewelry.

Not being able to see this once in a lifetime exhibition, I decided to purchase the book. For the price, I thought it was well worth it. It covers the entire exhibition of work. So, since some of it is in private collections, now I have my own way to access it! It was packaged with bubble wrap and in a very sturdy cardboard box.

As always, I admire and enjoy the excellent scholarship that characterizes this book from the Met, Although Caspar David Friedrich seems the quintessential Romantic in his moody brooding on human loneliness and spiritual isolation and consequent desire to find solace in Nature, I find his concerns very relevant to current environmental worries as well. As readers progress through the well-illustrated volume, we find ourselves realizing that we have a responsibility to preserve and protect the living landscape whose infinity prefigures the immortal home for which we yearn and to which we hope our spirits will return.
