My daughter has been begging to learn to skateboard for the last couple of years. I told her she had to wait until she turned 5 (mean ER nurse mom). We ordered her the beginner complete deck (and protective gear...of course) and are thrilled with our decision. Perfectly tuned for a beginner and she absolutely loves the unicorn design and the fact that it is personalized. The customer service at Skate XS was phenomenal. I was initially going to just buy one of those mini cruiser skateboard for my kid to learn on since they seemed to have good reviews. But I am glad I came across a few true skateboard oriented companies like SkateXS. After reading their advice and reviews from other customers, I believe we made the right choice to go with a standard but smaller skateboard, and one of good quality that can last for a while. They also have some useful videos to help with determining skateboard stance and how to get them skating safely for the first time. The instructions in the videos are demonstrated by kids who skateboard, which is probably more effective than a "naggy" parent. I am stoked that my kid got on his own skateboard for the first time and shredding right next to me :). Thanks SkateXS!

We bought my daughter a Unicorn Beginner Skateboard for Christmas, and she is absolutely thrilled with it! Unlike most of the junk you see on Amazon or in big-box stores, this board is a legitimate, high-quality piece of gear. It is not a toy. It is a shrunken down version of what you see under the teenagers flying around the skate park. The artwork and colors on the deck are incredibly vivid and intense, and totally wowed my 7-year old daughter and her friends. The trucks and wheels seem to be of good quality, and the bearings spin forever when you zing a wheel. We tried it out on a couple driveways and roads, and the board rolls great. My daughter didn't have any trouble controlling it, even though she's never ridden one before. She was on her way only a few minutes after watching the helpful Skate XS starter videos. Transitioning from this board to a larger version would be an extremely natural progression, as it's just a smaller version of the real deal. If you think your child has any possibility of progressing beyond messing around once in a while, this is the perfect training tool. While the price was higher than some competing options, so is the quality and value. You get far more for your money, and it's not a piece of disposable junk. As soon as the board came out of the box I knew I had made a smart choice. It's so much nicer than the Nash board I rode as a kid, and I would have done naughty things to get my hands on one of these back then! ;) We also bought my girl a complete pad set and new helmet, which were also extremely nice and work well. Before this purchase I called and talked with Bryan for a bit to ensure I was choosing the proper sizes and products. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and it was obvious that he is passionate about his business. I'll be honest, I usually shop around a lot but I was lucky to stumble on this store first. My wife told me her brother had a hard time finding a proper sized skateboard for our nephew and so I was automatically more comfortable with what the site was selling. The videos helped a lot. The order came very quick and had some extra goodies that my son loved! The skateboard looks great and he was in love with it immediately. The quality is on point and he's been riding it everyday. We bought the jr. size unicorn board with purple grip tape and multi-colored wheels for our petite 8 yr old daughter. The board arrived in perfect condition, nicely packaged, and the free t-shirt, wristband, and sticker, along with the handwritten "Enjoy!" on the invoice were a really nice personal touch. Shipping was amazingly quick too. Our daughter absolutely loves the board, and it's the perfect size and weight, and was set up ready to roll. She's already learning to ride the ramps at the local skate park with lessons, and the board is a real hit at the local playground with friends. The package of jr. size safety gear that we ordered too fits great and is great quality. Overall, a great customer experience. If you made boards for middle-aged adult beginners, I might be compelled to by one for myself too!

I bought skateboards for my two grandsons, ages 7 and 9, as well as the elbow and knee pad package. The pads are perfect and the boards are beautiful (one in pirate motif; the other in purple panda). I looked around Chicago before deciding on these, and am very glad I did. The quality and aesthetic of these boards is much better than anything I found closer to home. Brian was excellent to work with and made sure the boards were here in time for the boys' shared birthdays!! Thank you SkateXS: we'll be back when the little one is big enough ride!

When my granddaughter asked for a skateboard for her birthday I was a little worried. I wanted to get her something special, but I didn't know where to start. My granddaughter asked for something special to be written on her skateboard. I called two skateboard stores. One of them said they could handle it, but it seemed like a big process. After a third call SkateXS was mentioned. I went to the SkateXS site and was pleasantly surprised. Great looking high quality skateboards made for children! I still wasn't sure if I could have something special written on a skateboard so I called the company hoping that someone there would be able to tell me what I needed to know. Well, someone sure did. Bryan, the owner of the business, answered my call. What a personable guy! Bryan went out of his way to help me. My granddaughter was blown away with her skateboard! She called me immediately after opening her present and had her mom make a video of her taking her new skateboard out for a try. I don’t know the first thing about skateboards, but this company came up in a search I did for kids’ boards as a recommended option. The unicorn design was a nice find and I thought the site presented good info. So we took a chance! My daughter opened up her new board last weekend and loves it. The purple deck was a huge hit. She loves having her name on the top, and her purple helmet is one of her new favorite things. It’s clearly awesome quality and I feel great about her riding it. Plus, I like how you can reach out to a real person and ask questions. Really excellent when buying things for my kids!

My 8 year old has been saving for 9 months to buy a new skateboard and fell in love with this longboard. We have a SkateXS regular board that gets lots of use and this longboard is equally loved. The quality of the boards and the customer service can't be beat. Highly recommend this longboard.

Our son is 5 1/2 and was very excited to get his first skateboard. We had a hard time finding the right size board at local skate shops. This board is just the right size and weight for his age. He was able to customize his board and it came in less than a week. Website is very helpful, even recommended a scooter for our 3 year old to start on so he would be ready for a skateboard in a few years! Overall great experience!

We recieved a SkateXS skateboard for my sons birthday (7 yrs) and it was been amazing so far. The board itself is a great size, weight, design, etc. I love that you can pick the color for the top and the wheels. The instructional information and videos that you get along with the board are fantastic too. I would not know where to even begin to teach my son how to skateboard but we watched the video provided and he got it in minutes. We also received the pads which are nice a really good quality. They have a really good amount of padding, not like some that you get in the store that are pretty thin. Overall, I am very pleased and excited about SkateXS!
