I'm used to the quality
I'm used to the quality of the Mac computers and especially the keyboards, but in the last 20 years I've managed to wear out two of them, and instead of buying another useless wireless monstrosity, I was pleased to find the Satechi wired keyboard with a set of keys and layout so similar to the ones I've used from Mac. I like the led set on the upper right side of the keyboard, along with the familiar and very used numerical keypad, which I used quite a bit. I like the feel and energy of the keys as I type and feel them respond well and quickly. I've had this keyboard almost a month and as an editor who works at home (an editor of manuscripts of at least 60,000 words and up, I use this keyboard daily. As of this writing I am pleased as I can be. I like the quality and everything else about the keyboard.

The only option on shipping
The only option on shipping (not indicated during the order process as far as I could see, only upon delivery attempt) is that the order required a signature for delivery. The way the order was shipped with UPS did not allow requesting to deliver without a signature, pickup at the main UPS distribution building, leave with my neighbor, etc., there were NO options offered by UPS other than be home for a signature, or UPS would drop the package at, of all places, a gas station for pickup. This all occurred while I had a family member in the hospital, thus was not home during the day, so no signature, and the gas station selected by UPS to leave the package for pickup is not in let's just say a very safe part of town for a nighttime pickup, even if the gas station would allow pickup at something like 9:00 PM. I contacted Satechi, asked that they remove the signature required, or work with UPS for an alternative option (there is a UPS package store less than a ¼ mile from my house, but no, that was not an option, just some greasy gas station in a not good area of town). Nope, the only option was either be home whenever UPS decided to attempt delivery and sign for the package, or use the low rent gas station after hours. Nope, that is not customer service, that is disservice. I asked to cancel and refund my money. I had to wait until UPS returned the order to Satechi before the refund was processed, but to be fair, the money was back in my account quickly once UPS returned the order to Satechi. This was way more heartache than was even remotely reasonable. A simple option to approve leaving the order without a signature, or using the local UPS package store, or even leaving the package with my next door neighbor, any of these would have worked. But nope. no option, sign or pickup the package up at gas station, sorry, nope. I will never attempt to order direct from Satechi again until this shipping process is rethought.

Updating my review because my X1 no longer consistently holds a charge after just a couple of years. In other words, I pretty much have to keep it plugged in now, which is not what I had in mind when I purchased a BT keyboard. Frustratingly, I was told by Satechi customer support that there’s nothing they can do because I’m out of the 1-year warranty period. On the one hand, I get it: there literally is going to be an end to their support period. On the other hand, a keyboard seems like something that should last more than 1.5-2 years.
