I have been buying Portland Bee Balm for years. I have drawers full of them because I like them so much however, I’ll be looking for a comparable alternative because of the packaging change. Gone are the good old days of having a textured wrapper that is easy to open and grab from your pocket. Now the package is plastic and smooth like every other chapstick on the market. It creates a sticky mess when you open the 9 pack because of the way they’ve taped it to stay in the package due to them no longer having the texture that kept them in place. It’s impossible to open the individual containers without cutting the plastic which tears off and leaves a sticky coating that collects debris and feels terrible when reaching in your pocket to use it. I’m disappointed with the change. The charm is gone. The tactile experience is a big part of choosing this product for me, which is now gross, sticky and messy.

I’ve been a lover of Portland Bee Balm since I first found it years ago. I have at least 20 stashed around my house and in my car because I can’t stand being without it. I recently hosted a retreat with six women and put together little gift baskets of my favorite Made in Oregon goodies and of course I had to give them several lip balms each. They all love them.

Good product, I was a burt’s bees guy for many many years but the new recipe wasn’t the same. Portland bee balm is a better product with clean ingredients.
