Distribpix have completed an impressive feat of restoring a classic adult feature from the early seventies (1972). Behind the Green Door is presented in a fabulous 4K transfer and loaded with commentaries and interviews (thanks to Ashley West), and documentation including (for the boffins) an explanation of how the optical effects were achieved in 16mm. Jared Stearns provides contextual histories of both Marilyn Chambers and the Mitchell Brothers who made the film. This is a must buy; those who hesitate will regret it later. Steven Morowitz deserves a standing ovation for the package. Can’t wait to see what other Mitchell release they have in the works after Distribpix purchased the full Mitchell Film Group archives. To be continued.
