The first release in the Mitchell Brothers Film Group line is a doozy. I thought I had seen this film, but I hadn’t. What I watched in 1981 or so was a washed out ghost of this film on VHS and a Sony Trinitron, the height of technology back then. Everything about this release: the new scan of the film in 4K, the commentaries, the extras, the packaging, the soundtrack, literally sings to me. Marilyn Chambers is astounding in this film: more than a porn star, she’s an actress, doing so much with her eyes, her breathing, the way she moves - I’m 18 years old again and just as in love. The best thing about this release is that it’s the first of a series of Mitchell Brothers releases. I can’t wait to see some of the films the brothers made before Green Door, as well as pristine presentations of the movies they did after. Beyond that is the promise of films made of live performances inside the O’Farrell Theater, a kind of holy grail. I’m getting into the Resurrection of Eve next, and after that, all the releases. Shipping was fast, and delivered in secure packaging. Thank you!
