I was a connoisseur of fine scotches and bourbons for over 40 years. Stopped drinking alcohol over 8 months ago and bought Lyre's "best" Scotch and Bourbon. I am sorry, as I tried both on the rocks and their tastes were nowhere close to the "real thing". It was the TASTE of scotch and bourbon I wanted to replace, NOT alcohol content. So sad and disappointed.

No flavor. Tasted like watered down corn syrup / juices. No body or flavor

I was really looking forward to this one. When you open the bottle the rich smell of a bourbon is all there, just a bit heavier on the liquorice. But, when you drink it there is absolutely nothing there! No texture, no substance, none of that beautiful syrupy caramel goodness of whisky that coats your mouth and throat, it is exactly like water. And that goes for the taste as well - it completely vanishes! It is the strangest sensation - you expect flavour and viscous drink but get absolutely nothing. Not a single drop of taste on your tongue or in your throat. I’ve no idea how they’ve managed it! There is a tiniest aftertaste of liquorice but that vanishes within a few seconds! Mixing this doesn’t help either. Even adding in some bitter for an old fashioned just makes it even more water. So, so strange. Just wouldn’t bother.
