When you get married, you start to notice something—some friendships revolve around venting. Then you have kids, and you realize the same thing exists in parenting too. There are plenty of spaces to talk about how hard it all is (and it is hard!), but what’s surprisingly rare are voices that are encouraging, thoughtful, and actually helpful without being judgmental. Our first child was born right in the middle of COVID, and in a strange way, Lovevery sort of became that steady, encouraging “friend” for us. Every time we found ourselves wondering, “Is it normal that she's opening and closing her mouth without making sounds? What are we supposed to be doing? How come our friend's kid is doing that, but not ours?” Lovevery was there without being overwhelming or shaming, just. . . kind of shepherding us through as we figured things out. We genuinely love child development and researching. I’m a trained teacher and have worked with so many different ages and topics from infants to elementary music to 6th grade science to high school math, classrooms and one-on-one tutoring, and still - when it’s your own child, it just feels different. You question the long-term impact of every choice. You don't just "go home" at the end of the day. And even when you’re someone who could DIY a lot of things, there’s such a big difference in having the right tools show up just when you want them. That’s probably the biggest thing for us—the timing. The way each Play Kit delivers just the right things as you need them instead of digging through totes in the basement (because who has time for that?). It gives the gentle nudge of "Hey, you could be counting or cutting those watermelon bites together" or "Why don't you let him know that one's called a door hinge?" FRIENDSHIP BOOK SET: I purchased this for my 2. 5 year old after buying the Emotions mini kit. I much prefer this set of stories to the Emotion Book Set, even though the FRIENDSHIP lessons target older children. The stories involve creative situations, more complete story arcs (compared to the Emotion Book Set) and help kids build empathy skills. The execution of My Story, Your Story is one of the more creative storytelling techniques that I have seen with Lovevery.

EMOTION BOOK SET: I purchased this for my 2. 5 year old after buying the Emotions mini kit. While the situations depicted are very creative, I feel like the story development and arcs on many of the books could be stronger. The resolution of each child's situation comes in the last 2 pages and some of the stories end pretty abruptly (e. g. Mad, Shy, Nervous). I also wish there was some notation or signal for "The End" of each story. Some books include blank pages after the last page and others just have the final page pasted on the back cover. It seems like a quality/construction issue that needs to be resolved in future editions.

Expensive but so worth it. Helps you learn how to interact with your child and help them grow. It’s amazing how much they love the toys. The education and developmentally appropriate delivery takes one unknown off the table during such an uncertain time. Highly recommend.
