Haven't read much of the book yet, but it looks very good. Detailed explanations, also of the things a dan player will take for granted, but a mid-kyu like me doesn't. I am very pleased with my purchase from Go Game Guru, the product was as advertised and it was shipped to me as fast as they could in the AlphaGo aftermath.

The board looks very nice. However it’s description is a little misleading. It is actually veneered MDF (or the like) and not "made of several pieces of wood”, which to me implies solid wood. I discovered this when a piece of very thin veneer came away from the bottom of the board.I have emailed them several times for a response to this claim and asking how thick the playing surface is but have had no replies. In every other respect the service I got was very good.

I was interested in this book because of its status approach, forcing you to evaluated life and death problems as you would in a game, without knowing before hand if something is killable or not. This feature is great and I think it does make a difference. I am almost halfway through the book and I'm starting to notice the shapes in my games which is helping me improve my time usage when reading out problems. 5 stars so far.

The Attack and Defense book is very good. It has great explanations with example games played by the author. It takes you in-depth about the game's strategy. Intermediate to advanced level players will definitely appreciate it. If you are looking to better understand the strategy of the middle-game and transition to the end-game, this is a good book to help you do it.
