I just love this amp.
I just love this amp. It clicks with my setup on a whole different level and really brings the music to life. The more I listen, the more I just want to crank up my speakers and enjoy. It’s punchy, fun, and makes everything sound better.

About 15 years ago, my
About 15 years ago, my late 1980s B&K ST-140 stereo amplifier went weak in the left channel. As my wife & I were living on a modest income while raising 2 hungry, growing young boys, we couldn’t realistically & responsibly afford to replace that B&K with a comparable amplifier. We chose to “simplify” with a mid-range Japanese made receiver that we purchased as an open box demo at Circuit City for half retail price. With great sadness, I had to sideline my Sumo Athena preamp (which has a Direct mode where the signal basically bypasses all electronics in the preamp to send the signal “directly” to the volume control potentiometer with as little distortion & noise as possible—very similar to the old passive Mod Squad Line Drive). While this receiver performed 100% reliably for 15 years, our music lost its detailed, wonderfully musical flavor. I “suffered” (ha ha) quietly for 15 years with the consolation that we made the right choice to be frugal for the sake of our family & family budget’s health. However, I noticed that I no longer put on music for the mere sake of sitting to listen with intense, eager focus; I missed those countless listening sessions. I am very humbly thankful that my wife and I now have the budget to be able to afford the replacement of the old B&K ST-140 that I loved so much. After long “research” through Randy (The Cheap Audio Man), Steve Guttenberg (Audiophiliac), Andrew Robinson, and other good YouTube audiophile channels as well as continual internet reviews research, I basically landed on the Emotiva A1 Monoblock amps. I simply could not possibly be happier! I am once again feeling the urge to cry, laugh, & smile until my face hurts when I listen to music! EVERY bit of music is once again an event whether I am intentionally listening with I distracted focus or listening casually as I cook, read, entertain guests, or move about my home. My old Sumo preamp (bought in 1992 as a half price demo) is as transparent and “perfect” as ever. My 35 yea...

RMC-1 CR8 upgrade
I would have given a five star review but my processor did not work when it was returned from the CR8 upgrade with the help from customer service was able to fix it without returning the unit back. A wire had came out of one of the circuit boards in shipping. But I will say the RMC-1 with the CR8 upgrade runs much smoother have not had any problems with it locking up and it sounds Great I think the sound separation is more pronounced than I remembered before the upgrade very pleased with the improvement the upgrade made. The processor will have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi but is not enabled at this time.

Emotiva Experience
My audiophile journey started in the mid-70’s when I was much younger, inexperienced and impressionable (gullible?), I bought into every Hi-Fi hype & trend there was. It took an electrical engineering degree and a lot of years to recognize the home audio industry for what it was: a rabbit hole down a slippery slope into a world of smoke and mirrors! Back then it was $3000 pick-up cartridges and painting the edges of CD’s with green ink to mitigate light refraction losses!?!? Today it’s $15,000 cables and other assorted nonsense manufacturers would have us believe are worth the money for an astonishing difference in sound quality. Fortunately, there are a few companies that don’t trade in hype and instead present a common sense perspective to consumers. Emotiva is one such company, offering good quality products that perform really well for a price that doesn’t insult our intelligence. I own two Emotiva processors and three Emotiva amps, each of which compared favorably to alternatives I auditioned costing up to five times the price. Any superiority others had in specific areas was so marginal that for the money and the law of diminishing returns, choosing the Emotiva’s was an easy decision. Since then, I’ve upgraded the amps with higher power modules and had one processor back for service and in all cases, customer support was helpful and efficient, service time was rapid and cost friendly. All more important to me than marketing. As for recommending Emotiva to a friend based upon my experience? I already have! AS Missouri

High Quality Audio Products
I have been an Emotiva customer for a couple of decades. I had one of their original processors. It would probably still be working were it not for a lightning strike taking out the HDMI ports. I currently have an XMC-1 processor which is pretty good but not great. I feel that Emotiva has gotten a little off track with the processors though. It seems that there has been a focus on more channels (16 channels? Who does that outside of a movie theater?) and keeping up with the Jone’s on the HDMI front (You’re up to 8k but 10k is just around the corner. Then what?) but not enough attention to the actual audio quality. I don’t even use the HDMI ports on my XMC-1. My TV has more than enough ports and I don’t want to turn on ALL of my audio/video gear every time I watch TV. I have about 5 or 6 audio sources connected to my XMC-1. That’s it. I added a bluetooth transmitter by the way which was a game changer. The price of Emotiva’s processors has also gotten almost out of reach for most people in my opinion. I appreciate the BasX line but that’s not what I am looking for as an Emotiva customer. I am looking for very high end components at very low end prices. That is the Emotiva that I loved. The price point of the current processors only encourages customers to look at similarly priced competitor products. And what happened to the processor trade in program that was promised? Now I am stuck with the XMC-1 without much motivation to spend a fortune on a new processor that won’t work much better than what I have. I also have an XSP-1, which I absolutely love. I’m not sure why Emotiva doesn’t make a high end preamp anymore. Maybe the market wasn’t there. Additionally, I have a an ERC-3 and an ERC-4. I like them both. I particularly like that the 4 can, and is, used as a DAC. To be honest though, I can’t tell the difference in sound between the 3 and the 4, the 4 has a noisy transport, and it will not play certain disks that play just fine on the 3. I also have several of...
