Great service

I bought the original Escapist 32l ~10 years ago. Since then I had it repaired once and then upon sending it for repair recently Osprey offered me a new pack as it was unrepairable. Firstly just to say this is outstanding customer service and you should factor that into the price. Onto the pack itself - it retains the helmet clip and the best feature of the old one which is the integrated rain cover. The beauty of this is that it's always there when you need it, and in the event it gets blown of the pack in strong winds it stays attached due to the toggle. The bag is pretty comfortable to wear, had a useful front pocket for bits and bobs and the volume in the main container is decent size. Then netting on the front of the bag is also great for stashing and grabbing things quickly. The pockets on the hip strap have increased in size so that they are now actually useful for putting something in, although a criticism of these is that I can't seem to close the zip one-handed which I have wanted to do while riding a few times (this is a cycling backpack after all). I also miss the pocket at the top of the bag which is where I used to keep my phone, and the pocket on the left shoulder strap where I'd keep my work ID. The top pocket has been replaced by a side pocket which seems way less accessible, but not a huge deal as one can use the front pocket for phone/keys instead. The only big drawback is that the side pockets for water bottles isn't very good at retaining them. I use a 750ml KleenKanteen and it's not really deep enough to keep it in - if I bend down it usually falls out onto the floor. Not really a problem on the bike as I'd always use the bottle cage, but when walking it's a bit annoying. Would I recommened it? I like the bag, but the water bottle storage would annoy me if I'd just paid full price for it. If you're planning to use this 95% on the bike then go for it, if it's more for walking I might look for a different option - a number of Osprey bags hav...
