The blue vintage Chrono Diver is truly one of the best value watches in my collection. I tend not to wear my heavy hitters at work as an anesthesiologist, for fear of banging my watch against OR door handles or various metal edges when I have to dive under the drapes, and so this watch from Dryden is perfect for me. Great quality and durability for a decent price, looks and feels good, comfortable on rubber or mesh, and the screw down crown is a must (since push pull crowns without crown guards are easily pulled out by the frequent donning and removal of nitrile or latex gloves, and I like the zero crown guard look). The duo of diver’s bezel with chronograph functionality allows me to time multiple intraoperative events; and they make it easy to precisely time my 15 or 30 minute breaks. It is quite rare to find a diving chrono at this price point with this colorway. Most sunray blue dials at the affordable end have a very cheap, almost plasticky/hologram-like appearance. They are hard to get right, but this Dryden dial is a stunner with a beautiful refined summery blue hue that isn’t too dark or too light with visible striations that echo the refinement and improved finishing you would normally expect in less affordable options. The quartz Seiko movement is reliable, exactly what I need in my line of work. This watch checks so many boxes for me, exceeded my expectations, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. My only niggle would be that I wish there was an option for a bracelet with fitted end links for the more integrated look, but that would also elevate the price point. That said, I wear it in on a strapcode brushed and tapered mesh bracelet and it looks amazing with a neovintage flair!
